A reservoir with 5 million liters of ethanol at a Biosev plant in MS explodes and is destroyed by fire, the accident may have caused the death of an employee of the company responsible

The plant where the tank with 5 million liters of ethanol exploded and could have caused the death of an employee is the responsibility of the Biosev business group, the company claims that as soon as the incident was identified, safety protocols were activated in order to guarantee the safety of each and every employee.

More than 30 firefighters were needed to put out the fire at the plant.

The captain of the fire department battalion responsible for fighting the fire at the Biosev plant in MS states that it took 40 people to fight the fire, including plant employees and firefighters and even military personnel.

One of the employees of the plant of the Biosev business group is missing and may have died during the fire at the plant, he was carrying out activities in the vicinity of the ethanol tank at the exact moment the explosion occurred, one of the helmets that was used by company employees was found in the vicinity of the ethanol tank explosion.

Ethanol tanks were cooled to prevent future fires at the MS plant

At the MS plant there are three other ethanol reservoirs and after the incident they were cooled to prevent further possible explosions at the plant. The Biosev business group plant is isolated and all employees have been released.

Biosev informs that an ethanol tank at the Passa Tempo Unit (MS) caught fire this Tuesday, the 17th. The company clarifies that, as soon as it identified the incident, it activated the emergency protocol to guarantee the safety of all employees. The site was evacuated, the Fire Brigade and Fire Department were called and are on site to control the flames and cool the area. The company reiterates that it constantly invests in the safety of its processes and acts in the prevention and mitigation of risks. In this way, it clarifies that it will collaborate with the competent authorities in the investigation and identification of the causes of the fire and will provide all necessary clarifications.
