High consumption and falling oil levels are some of the dissatisfactions related to Toro pickup truck owners, check it out!
The Fiat Toro conquered the Brazilian market and stood out as the sales leader among pickup trucks. Therefore, with internal dimensions, the model popularized a new category, where it competes with the Renault Oroch. Measuring 4,94 meters long, 1,84 meters wide and 2,99 meters between wheels, the Toro offers a bucket with a capacity of 937 liters. In addition, the load capacity varies by version: the flex supports up to 750 kg, while diesel provides up to 1 ton and can tow up to 400 kg, according to the AutoEsporte website.
The pickup truck has two engine configurations. The flex versions with front-wheel drive feature the 1.3 T270 turbo engine, who delivers up to 185 hp and 27,5 kgfm of torque. On the other hand, 4×4 versions, diesel powered, have the 2.0 TD350 turbo engine, which generates 170 hp and 35,5 kgfm of torque. Additionally, the nine-speed automatic transmission includes a low range, although it does not have a rear differential lock. Despite its success, the Toro faces recurring criticisms about fuel and oil consumption, which are common among users.
Complaints about fuel consumption
O 1.3 turbo flex engine, which promises savings compared to the old 1.8, has disappointed many owners. For example, Francisco, owner of a Toro Freedom 2024 in Caicó (RN), expressed his dissatisfaction: “I bought the 1.3 turbo engine expecting savings, but it only does 5 km/l with ethanol and 6,5 km/l with gasoline”. Rafael, from Fortaleza (CE), reported a similar problem with his 2023 Toro. In the first 25 thousand km, the model did between 8,5 and 9 km/l. However, after that, dropped to 6,5 km/l, and the problem persists even after visits to the order.

Oil consumption: Another problem
In addition to fuel consumption, many owners have reported excessive oil consumption. For example, a property owner from Guarulhos (SP) noticed a drop in oil level upon reaching 10 thousand km. Even taking the vehicle for delivery, I received the response that the oil consumption was “normal”. Emerson, from Campo Largo (PR), noticed the same problem with his 2022 Toro. With only 1.800 km, he said: “Consumes 1 liter of oil every 1.000 km, which worries me about internal problems.”
Paulo Vianna, an automotive mechanics specialist, explains that the 1.3 turbo engine requires adjustments to support the weight of the Toro pickup truck. This increases turbine pressure and, consequently, oil consumption. “The oil drop affects lubrication and increases engine temperature, with the risk of overheating,” warns Vianna. Although the warranty covers the problem, the cost of reconditioning the engine can be high.
Stellantis Response
Stellantis, responsible for Fiat and Jeep, has not yet commented specifically on the Toro pickup truck. In response to previous questions about the Jeep Renegade, which shares the 1.3 turbo engine, the company stated that “customers who sought assistance were guided and treated appropriately.”
Although Toro remains a popular choice in Brazil, complaints raised an alert among potential buyers. Therefore, to avoid future problems, it is worth considering the conditions of use and proper maintenance of the vehicle.
I have a Toro Volcano turbo 270 purchased zero km in October 2021, there has never been this problem with oil consumption, and fuel consumption in the city is as expected for a vehicle with this weight, on the highway, with a smooth foot it is possible to do 9.5 to 10 km/l on gasoline, if you put your foot down it will consume more, there is no way it could be different from that. Today my Toro has 82 thousand km driven.
That's the competitors trying to bring down Toro. This story of lowering the oil doesn't exist. If you always drive slowly with the car, no car will lower the oil, but if you always drive fast, the oil will lower in any car.
My 2020 model Toro, the only mechanic that has been done so far was changing the water filter, the most perfect, it doesn't use much fuel, I see the difference when my husband drives, the consumption is visible, I love my Toro, when it reaches 100 km, I'm going to buy another one.
When you are ready to sell yours, please send me a message. Thanks.
Water filter was cool!
Diesel engine has water filter.
To explain better… the name of the part is fuel/water separator filter. Its function is to separate any and all water particles, making it possible to drain it through a drain automatically or manually.
I bought a 1.3 Turbo Flex Volcano in December 2022. It does 9,8 to 10,9 on gasoline up to 110 km and above that speed between 130 and 150 km, it did 8,7 km, which I think is an excellent autonomy for the size and weight of the car. Comfort, plenty of technology, agility, strong engine with excellent recovery and above all, very beautiful. I am very satisfied and recommend it. It never ran out of oil like people say. The car has no defects. It could be envy or an article paid for by the competition.
Unfortunately, it is common in several cars like this engine. I have a Compass with the same engine and mine actually drops 1 liter every 2000 km. I can even show that there is always 1 liter of oil on the front seat for these unforeseen events.
No one can really explain the fuel consumption, just messing around, problems with the flute at 10000 km, it simply couldn't handle the pressure and washed the gasoline engine, luckily it was cold, I had to change all the injection nozzles at 28.000, now the engine is out of sync, you'll have to open the engine to see what happened, the "simple" suspicion is that probably some mechanic at the dealership must have **** the engine upside down when changing the flute.
The gearbox gets stuck in a specific gear, everything freezes on the dashboard, you turn off the car and everything starts working again, and no one can find the problem. One time the car wouldn't start or turn off again until the battery ran out. They took it to the dealership to get a tow truck and diagnosed it: replace the dead battery. Of course, the dealership left the car running (without starting) all day without being able to turn it off. They replaced the battery and everything came back on, without any diagnosis. The most impressive thing was that the dealership mechanic taught me which cable to disconnect from the battery if it happened again.
Now oil has appeared in the radiator reservoir, and it has not yet been discovered where it comes from, it is completely absurd!!!!!
So there are a lot of problems and no one takes action, not even mentioning recalls, it is a total lack of respect for the consumer, unfortunately in Brazil it is like this, the consumer can fend for himself, the big automakers are immune to the problems of their production and terrible developments.
If you need it, I have extensive photos and videos to prove everything.
**** will grow The Naris.the car
It has many defects, the main one being the exchange rate
with a manufacturing defect (lots of jolts and broken cushions) it looks like a cart.
Talking badly about Toro is normal for someone who can't afford to pay their installment.
I have a 2024 flex 1.3 that does 9km/LT with ethanol
Detail: mine already has 73.000km
I bought my 1.3 Toro 2022 turbo from scratch and paid for it in cash, but it's still not economical... It runs like a charm...
I only used alcohol once because I did 4.0 km in the city... With gasoline in the city I don't go beyond 6.5 km.
Fiat needs to learn how to make TSI family engines
IT IS A VERY FUEL-DRINKING CAR.
I think you're drinking too much
VW engine blows up easily and it's just hard plastic!
You don't understand anything, it seems.
I am satisfied with my 2024/2025 Toro. Its consumption in the city with gasoline is 12,3 km/l while my previous one, a 2022 Jeep Compass, did a maximum of 9,3 km/l in the city. I am a former owner of a Hilux (excellent truck) and now I am also very satisfied with the Toro.
But the plastic on the Toros is terrible too. 🙄
"I bought it brand new and paid in cash and it's not economical.” I didn't understand the relationship between the payment method and a vehicle's fuel consumption.
From there, you can see that you're in trouble. You bought it on finance and don't even have the money to pay in cash. You're screwed.
I have had a bull since June 2018 and I got another one in 2021, the second one, I'm waiting for it to come out in 2026, I haven't had any problems, it's comfortable and does 12 on trips and in the city, even an 8,5 has 79 thousand kilometers. This is speculation, the truck is great...
Without a doubt a great car, but my 2017 Freedon 1.8 made 4.7 gasoline and 3.7 alcohol in the city and didn't give 8 on the highway, I took it to Fiat several times and they never solved it, I changed several parts and it never got out of that, so far I haven't gotten another one out of fear, but I have two friends who have one and I really saw the oil level in the vehicle being low, I hope there is a solution for these owners who are having problems, but there is no way to condemn the vehicle, in my opinion it is the best in its category.
