Rapid Action by Internal Brigade Contained Fire at Raízen Plant in Caarapó (MS). Fire Department Conducted Technical Inspection.

A fire at a Raízen plant mobilized emergency teams on the morning of Tuesday (20th), at the Caarapó Plant, in the south of Mato Grosso do Sul.

The fire hit the cooling tower of the boiler, creating an intense cloud of smoke visible in several parts of the city and scaring residents.

Despite the visual impact, no one was injured, and the teams controlled the flames in the early moments of the incident.

As soon as it identified the source of the fire, Raízen’s internal brigade began firefighting efforts.

The team used three fire trucks from the industrial unit, which contained the advance of the fire before the arrival of the Military Fire Department.

The quick response prevented greater damage to the plant’s structure and ensured the safety of the workers.

Internal Brigade Acts Quickly and Prevents Escalation of the Fire

According to the company, safety protocols were activated immediately after the detection of the problem.

Employees trained for emergencies concentrated efforts in the affected area and controlled the fire in its initial phase.

Meanwhile, the Military Fire Department arrived at the unit and took over the salvage work. This step eliminated residual hotspots and prevented the flames from reigniting.

Even with the fire under control, the firefighters’ actions ensured the stability of the affected area.

Technical Analysis and Inspection After Fire Control

After extinguishing the fire, the firefighters conducted a detailed technical analysis of the plant.

The team assessed structural risks, checked safety conditions, and guided the responsible parties on additional preventive measures.

Furthermore, the military inspected the fire prevention and firefighting systems of the unit.

This procedure ensures the safety of the workers and the continuity of operations after an incident of this magnitude.

Fire Destroyed Five Cells of the Boiler Cooling Tower

According to the Military Fire Department, the fire destroyed five cells of the boiler cooling tower.

These structures, made of fiberglass, reduce the temperature of the water used in the industrial process.

The damage was limited to the tower area. The rapid control of the fire prevented other sectors of the plant from being affected.

Action Was Monitored by Commander of the Local Subgroup

Captain Rafael Henrique Fernandes, commander of the 4th Subgroup of the 2nd Group of the Military Fire Department in Caarapó, monitored the incident.

Five other military personnel participated in the operation, working on salvage and subsequent technical assessment.

The specialized team followed all fire response protocols and reinforced safety at the site.

Raízen Confirms No Injuries and Investigates Causes of Fire

In an official statement, Raízen confirmed the absence of victims or injuries. The company stated that it initiated an investigation into the causes of the fire, in accordance with its internal safety procedures.

“Raízen informs that on the morning of Tuesday, a fire was recorded in one of the cooling towers of the Caarapó (MS) unit.

The internal brigade teams acted immediately, and the fire was promptly controlled. There were no victims or injuries.

The causes of the incident are being investigated, and the company continues to adopt all necessary measures, in accordance with its safety protocols,” the statement says.

Incident Draws Attention, But Does Not Leave Victims

Although the fire created a large cloud of smoke and caused concern in Caarapó, authorities considered the outcome positive.

The rapid action of the internal brigade, with the support of the Military Fire Department, prevented a more serious scenario.

As the company continues its investigation into the causes, Raízen reaffirms its commitment to operational safety and the integrity of its employees, maintaining emergency prevention and response protocols as a priority in its industrial units.
