Brazil was the first country in the world to receive a Volkswagen factory outside of Germany and the manufacturer still sees the Brazilian market as one of the most important for it. Check the details dthe Golf SUV 'banned' in Brazil

VW's new SUV is a crossover based on the Golf platform that was initially launched in Europe in 2017 and became the German brand's second best-selling model, behind only the Tiguan. The Volkswagen T-Roc had its second generation confirmed for launch in 2025 and it didn't take long for the first photos of the Golf SUV 'banned' in Brazil to leak.

The Volkswagen T-Roc's headlights now have a more aggressive look and feature an LED light bar. The Golf SUV that is 'banned' in Brazil, as many people call it, is a model above the T-Cross, but different from the Taos. It is lower and wider, which is why it is called a Crossover. Therefore, VW's new SUV is one of those models that we look at and wonder why we don't have it in Brazil.

For now, the Volkswagen T-Roc remains exclusive to markets such as Europe and other corners of the world. The Golf SUV is 'banned' in Brazil for a reason: here, the focus is on the Taos model, a taller and more traditional SUV, which received a facelift in the version sold in the USA.

Find out what's changed in VW's new SUV

Although it looks similar to the first generation, VW's new SUV looks bigger. The headlights have a more aggressive look and feature an LED light bar that joins the two sides. On the side, the Golf SUV 'banned' in Brazil has lost that striking crease on the door and It gained smoother curves, but kept the robust C-pillar and the inclined rear.

The rear of the Volkswagen T-Roc highlights the wider appearance, with lights joined by a slit that crosses the trunk lid.

There are still not many details about the engine of VW's new SUV, but the expectation is that it will come with mild hybrid options and even a sportier version, the T-Roc R, with the 2.0 engine from the Golf R. VW has not yet confirmed anything about the arrival of a plug-in hybrid version.

Will the Golf arrive in Brazil in a sedan version?

The iconic Golf GTI, one of the most beloved models by Brazilians, is confirmed to return to Brazil this year. The long-awaited news was announced by the CEO of VW Brazil, Ciro Podemosbom at the end of last year, which highlighted the return of the sports car as part of a strategy to revitalize the automotive market in the country.

Recognized for its unique combination of performance, technology and design, the return of the Golf GTI promises to once again win the hearts of Brazilian enthusiasts with new features aligned with global demands and improvements that further elevate the driving experience.

It is worth mentioning that the model has been out of the Brazilian market for 4 years and, now, the return of the Golf GTI promises to return with great news, such as a powerful engine and good performance, in order to regain its place in the hearts of the local public.

Not for nothing, but this car would sell a lot here. It would only be behind the T-Cross!
