IBAMA Offers Free Environmental Education Course and Available Options That Provide Online Certificate, Workload of Up to 50 Hours and Complete Training for Those Who Want to Expand Opportunities in the Public and Private Sectors

The IBAMA has opened registrations for free courses that are completely online in Environmental Education, with a certificate upon completion. The training is open to the public and can strengthen the resume of those who work or wish to work in the environmental field and public management.

This initiative is part of the programming for the agency’s 37th anniversary and takes place through the IBAMA Virtual School, in partnership with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change. Since its launch in 2025, 1,413 people have already participated in the training.

Additionally, the courses are self-directed. This means that the student defines their own pace of study, according to their availability.

Are the Opportunities Open to the Public?

Yes, and it can strengthen the resumes of educators, public servants, and professionals in the third sector. Anyone interested can enroll. There is no requirement to be linked to the public service.

However, the content directly engages those who work or intend to work in:

  • Basic Education and Higher Education
  • Public Agencies
  • Civil Society Organizations
  • Socio-Environmental Projects
  • Public Policy Management

Thus, the training caters to both beginners and professionals seeking updates in the environmental field.

Content Ranges from Conceptual Foundations to Application in Public Environmental Management

The courses cover the fundamentals of Environmental Education and its relation to public administration.

Among the topics covered are:

  • Ethics and Socio-Environmental Responsibility
  • Cooperation and Social Participation
  • Sustainable Development
  • Socio-Environmental Management
  • Environmental Public Policies

Furthermore, the modules are independent, making it easier to organize studies. Participants progress according to their routine and revisit content whenever necessary.

The training also reinforces that environmental protection involves collective decisions and long-term impacts, broadening the critical view on the topic.

What Are the Information About Workloads and Student Profiles?

Currently, the Virtual School offers two training courses:

  • Environment, Citizenship, and Environmental Education

Workload of 30 hours. Recommended for those seeking a solid introduction to the principles of Environmental Education.

  • Introduction to Environmental Education in Socio-Environmental Management Process

Workload of 50 hours. Especially aimed at educators, public servants, and professionals from social organizations working with environmental management and policies.

Both are conducted entirely online.

Free Certificate upon Completion Increases Curriculum Value and Proves Qualification

Upon completing the activities, participants receive a free certificate.

The document can be used for:

  • Proof of Complementary Hours
  • Functional Progression, according to the agency’s rules
  • Enrichment of Curriculum
  • Points in selection processes that consider ongoing education

Therefore, in addition to technical learning, there is formal gain in the professional trajectory.

How to Enroll in the Free IBAMA Course?

Enrollment is done online within the IBAMA Virtual School platform. Access occurs through registration on the page itself, where the interested party selects the desired course and begins studies after confirmation.

As the courses are self-directed, there is no need to wait for a class to form. The start is released according to availability on the platform.
