IPVA 2026 in RJ Gains Definitive Calendar with Payment via Pix, Discount, and Official Rules for All Vehicle Owners
The government of Rio de Janeiro has released the official calendar for IPVA 2026 and has defined all due dates for tax payment. The schedule published in the Official State Gazette on December 1 confirms that owners can pay the amount in full with a 3% discount or, alternatively, pay in three equal monthly installments, without deductions.
As a result, all taxpayers need to organize themselves in advance, as the decree signed by Governor Cláudio Castro establishes that payment may be made via Pix or by barcode, in financial institutions partnered with the State Department of Finance.
Payment Methods and Issuance of DARJ
Payment of the tax initially requires the issuance of the Document of Collection of the State of Rio de Janeiro (DARJ), a document that will be available in the first days of January on the official Sefaz-RJ website.

Furniture made with aluminum and glass does not warp and has become an alternative to replace MDF in Brazil.
To access the DARJ, the user must click on the “DARJ IPVA Issuance” area and then provide the Renavam, which releases the document for printing. In addition, the government advises taxpayers not to use search engines, as they may be directed to fraudulent pages. Therefore, the ideal is to access directly the official address indicated by Sefaz-RJ itself.
Furthermore, when making payment via Pix, the taxpayer should check if the CNPJ 42.498.675/0001-52 and the name of the beneficiary “SEFAZ RJ – STATE SECRETARIAT OF FINANCE OF RJ” appear, which provides greater security for the driver.
Official Dates of the IPVA 2026 Calendar
The published schedule directly establishes the due dates according to the last digit of the plate:
Last Digit of Plate – Single Installment or 1st Installment / 2nd Installment / 3rd Installment
- 0 – January 21 / February 20 / March 23
- 1 – January 22 / February 23 / March 26
- 2 – January 23 / February 24 / March 27

As a result, each driver can see exactly the deadline applicable to their vehicle and thus avoid delays that jeopardize annual licensing.
Essential Guidelines to Avoid Payment Errors
To ensure a secure settlement, taxpayers must, first of all, issue the DARJ exclusively on the Sefaz-RJ portal. And, since the calendar begins on January 21, it is crucial that the owner schedules the payment in advance.
Additionally, using Pix tends to facilitate the process, although it is essential to verify all information before finalizing the transaction. Moreover, as payment can be made at any financial institution, the process becomes more accessible for all profiles of taxpayers.
Finally, as non-payment generates pending issues and prevents licensing, it is best to follow the official calendar and pay attention to the dates released by the government.
