The Construction of the First Unit Outside São Paulo of the Aeronautics Technological Institute (ITA) Is Progressing Rapidly at the Air Force Base in Fortaleza, with the Initial Phase Scheduled for Delivery in the First Half of 2026.
In a groundbreaking initiative in its 75 years of history, the Aeronautics Technological Institute (ITA) is expanding its presence to the Northeast. The new campus is being built in Fortaleza, the capital of Ceará, and already has structural works in advanced stages.
The first phase, which includes two blocks with three floors — one for dormitories and the other dedicated to classrooms and engineering laboratories — has an estimated investment of R$ 70.9 million.
Structural Blocks Advance and 21% of the First Phase Has Been Completed
According to information from the Government of Ceará, the construction of the new ITA campus has already reached important milestones.
-
The lack of welders, electricians, and operators becomes a structural threat in 2025, with the construction industry and manufacturing already suffering from delays, cost pressures, and labor shortages in Brazil.
-
Brazil and Paraguay are just 46 meters away from a historic union on the bioceanic bridge that promises to revolutionize trade between the Atlantic and the Pacific.
-
With 55 km over the sea, a cost of US$ 20 billion, and enough steel to build 60 Eiffel Towers, China’s largest project has connected Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau in a colossal bridge that defies the logic of engineering.
-
A trick with joint compound transforms a Styrofoam ceiling into a plaster-like ceiling: leveled panels, wires and mesh at the joints, sand, paint, and change the environment while spending little today.
The concrete structure of the dormitory block has reached 75% completion, while the engineering block is 50% finished. In total, the works already represent 21% of the first phase completed.

Currently, the ongoing services involve the execution of walls, stairs, plaster application, and the installation of cobogós on the ground floor.
The next phase includes the concreting of the slab for the second floor and the start of electrical and plumbing installations.
Second Phase Foresees Renovations and Complete Infrastructure
In addition to the new constructions, the second phase of the works anticipates the requalification of the existing structures at the Air Force Base in Fortaleza.
The administrative/academic building, the transit hotel, the mess, the health group, and the support block will be renovated.
Infrastructure for roads, electricity, and plumbing is also planned, consolidating the necessary structure for the full operation of the campus.
New Courses Reinforce ITA’s Technological Vocational Focus
ITA Ceará is born with a forward-looking perspective.
In addition to the six traditional engineering courses offered at the headquarters in São José dos Campos (SP), the new unit will feature two new strategic courses: Systems Engineering and Renewable Energy Engineering.
The expectation is that, in the future, graduate programs and new undergraduate courses, such as in Bioengineering, will be offered.
First Class Has Been Selected and New Admissions Exam Is Open
The first selection process for ITA Ceará took place in 2024, and the first class will be welcomed between 2025 and 2026 at the São Paulo headquarters. After the completion of the works, these students will migrate to the new campus in Fortaleza.
The admissions exam for entry in 2026 is already open for registration until July 13, exclusively through the official ITA website, now including spots for the new northeastern unit.
ITA’s Expansion Represents a Historic Advancement in the Country’s Technological Education
The construction of ITA Ceará is seen as a milestone not only for the state but for the entire Northeast region, which now has a hub of excellence in engineering education and research.
The works demonstrate the government’s commitment to decentralizing high-quality higher education and to developing strategic areas for the country, such as renewable energies and intelligent systems.
