The Collection at Six New Toll Plazas Transforms the Routine of Drivers in Paraná and Imposes High Costs for Those Traveling Between Prudentópolis and São Miguel do Iguaçu. Private Concessionaires Take Over the Management of the Sections.
Six new toll plazas began operating on BR-277, in Paraná, this Saturday (28), as authorized by the National Agency of Land Transportation (ANTT).
The measure is part of the concession of Lot 6 to EPR Iguaçu, the company responsible for managing the section, and directly impacts drivers traveling between Prudentópolis and São Miguel do Iguaçu.
The official deliberation was published in the Federal Official Gazette on June 17, through administrative acts 195/25 and 196/25.

The new toll also includes five plazas from the so-called Lot 3, managed by the concessionaire CCR PRVias, on sections of highways BR-376 and PR-323.
Toll Rates at BR-277 Plazas Impact Drivers
The six toll plazas of Lot 6 are located in the municipalities of Prudentópolis (km 302), Candói (km 388), Laranjeiras do Sul (km 464), Cascavel (km 568), Céu Azul (km 620), and São Miguel do Iguaçu (km 704), totaling approximately 406 kilometers covered by the new toll system.
At Plaza 5, in Cascavel, the rate set for passenger vehicles is R$ 15.10, while light trucks, buses, and vehicles with up to two axles pay R$ 30.20.
Vehicles with semi-trailers of up to three axles incur a charge of R$ 22.65.
Meanwhile, the plaza at São Miguel do Iguaçu, the last on the stretch, has the highest toll: R$ 17.40 for light vehicles.
Motorcycles, mopeds, tricycles, and bicycles are exempt from payment, as stipulated in the contract signed with the ANTT.
Total Cost for the Trip to the Falls
For a family planning to visit the Iguaçu Falls departing from Prudentópolis, for example, the toll cost is R$ 95.70 one way.
On a round trip, the amount reaches R$ 191.40, which places this stretch among the most expensive in the state.
The concession also provides for a new Tariff Step, a contractual mechanism that authorizes increases of up to 40% in toll rates, depending on the delivery of duplicated sections of the highway.
This clause may further increase the total cost for drivers in the coming months.
Testing and Discounts with Electronic Tags
Before the official activation, EPR Iguaçu conducted a testing phase known as Assisted Operation.
The objective was to ensure the proper functioning of the structure, train staff, and inform users about payment methods and possible discounts.
Among the available benefits are the Basic Tariff Discount (DBT) and the Frequent User Discount (DUF), valid only for vehicles using electronic tags, stickers with chips installed on the windshield.
These tags are not sold by the concessionaire and can be obtained from operators like Sem Parar, Veloe, and ConectCar, or through financial institutions such as Banco do Brasil, Bradesco, Itaú, Caixa, C6Bank, Nubank, Sicoob, Porto Seguro, and Mercado Pago.
Interested drivers can simulate discounts by accessing the DUF calculator, available on the EPR Iguaçu website.
New Plazas Planned in the Southwest
In addition to the plazas already in operation, the contract provides for the construction of three new units of toll plazas in the municipalities of Lindoeste (BR-163), Ampére (PR-182), and Pato Branco (PR-280).
The deadline for the implementation of these points is up to 12 months, as stipulated in the contract.
Lot 3 Also Starts Charging on Federal and State Highways
In Lot 3, managed by CCR PRVias, the new rates also came into effect on the same day.
The rates for passenger vehicles are as follows:
- Witmarsum/Palmeira (BR-376, km 529): R$ 12.00
- Tibagi (BR-376, km 448): R$ 12.80
- Imbaú (BR-376, km 370): R$ 12.80
- Ortigueira (BR-376, km 316): R$ 12.80
- Sertaneja (PR-323, km 3): R$ 11.80
According to the ANTT, four of the six lots of the new road concession model in Paraná have already been auctioned.
The lots 4 and 5 are expected to be offered by October 2025.
User Support and Services
For support to drivers, EPR Iguaçu provides free emergency assistance, including medical and mechanical rescue services, through the number 0800 277 0163.
The toll rates were defined based on contractual criteria and logistical data, taking into account traffic volume, existing infrastructure, and planned investments throughout the concession.
With the implementation of the new system, drivers and transportation companies need to recalculate their operational and logistical costs while traveling through the western corridor of the state.
Given the high charges, especially in Lot 6, many users question whether the cost of the tolls is proportional to the services offered and the current conditions of the highway.
Do you believe that the rates charged at these toll plazas reflect real improvements for those traveling on BR-277?
