Free Professional Master’s in Performing Arts Brings Semi-Presential Training, Affirmative Actions, and Focus on Cultural Mediation, with Online Night Classes, Intensive In-Person Meetings in São Paulo, and Partnership Between Itaú Foundation and Célia Helena School of Arts.

The Itaú Foundation and the Célia Helena School of Arts (ESCH) have opened registrations for a special class of the free professional master’s in Performing Arts, focused on the Laboratory in Arts and Cultural Mediation.

In total, there are 30 vacancies for a training program lasting two years, with online night classes and on-campus periods concentrated in São Paulo.

The course is delivered in a semi-presential format.

The remote part happens with synchronous meetings through the Itaú Foundation School platform, while the in-person stage includes full-time immersions in the São Paulo capital.

Professional Master’s in Performing Arts: Course Profile and Target Audience

The special class is part of the Professional Master’s in Performing Arts, in a proposal focused on applied research and the deepening of practices related to cultural mediation.

The initiative is aimed at those who already work or intend to work in the field of arts, cultural management, and mediation.

People with a full degree in a course recognized by the MEC can apply.

The program also welcomes professional trajectories connected to diverse languages and fields, from theater, dance, and performance to pedagogical practices, cultural management, memory, and collections.

Format of Classes, Workload, and Duration of the Master’s

The course structure totals 450 hours over 24 months.

The proposal combines online activities with a schedule of intensive in-person meetings in São Paulo, at designated times throughout the academic year.

Remote classes will be conducted live, in weekly meetings.

The announced start date for activities is May 27, 2026, with meetings on Wednesdays, from 7 PM to 11 PM, during the nighttime.

The in-person stages will be concentrated in São Paulo, with full-time classes.

The planned schedule indicates up to five consecutive days per year of the course, in immersion format, which requires availability for travel and stay in the city during these periods.

Performing Arts and Cultural Mediation as Research Axes

The master’s program proposes in-depth exploration of themes that encompass the relationship between artistic creation, cultural circulation, and mediation with different audiences.

The training also aims at developing a repertoire for professional practice in institutions, projects, and cultural initiatives.

Among the research lines associated with the program are creative processes, pedagogical processes, management of processes, and memory and collection.

In practice, this opens space for projects that engage with different languages and production contexts, as well as experiences in socio-cultural spaces and contemporary platforms.

Affirmative Actions and Reservation of Vacancies in the Selection Process

The announcement of the selection process informs that there will be reserved vacancies for affirmative actions.

The number of affirmative vacancies is mentioned as 15 in the material provided, but this figure needs to be verified in the official selection process announcement for confirmation, as not all public communications replicate the same details.

Therefore, it is recommended that the applicant carefully read the announcement before finalizing the registration.

It is in this document that the eligibility criteria, required documentation, and specific rules related to affirmative actions are described.

How to Apply for the Free Professional Master’s at Itaú Foundation

Registrations are open until January 26, 2026, at 6 PM (Brasilia Time).

The process should be completed on the Itaú Foundation School platform, on the page of the Professional Master’s in Performing Arts – Special Class / Laboratory in Arts and Cultural Mediation 2026, where the announcement with the guidelines and selection stages is also available.

With the demand for free and semi-presential training on the rise, what weighs more in your application decision: the online night routine or the in-person immersions in São Paulo?
