Federal Program Opens Slots for Aviation Training, One of the Sectors That Most Lacks Qualified Labor in Brazil

The federal government announced the opening of free scholarships for training aircraft maintenance mechanics, one of the most strategic and needed professions in the aviation sector in Brazil. The initiative especially targets low-income individuals and could represent a professional turning point for those seeking a technical career with high employability.

A total of 74 full scholarships will be offered for in-person courses focused on aircraft maintenance, a crucial area for the safe operation of civil aviation.

What Course Is This and Why Is It So Important?

The scholarships are aimed at the Aviation Maintenance Mechanic (MMA) course, a technical training required to work directly in the maintenance of commercial and executive aircraft.

The course prepares professionals to work in three fundamental areas of aviation:

  • Airframe (aircraft structure)
  • Powerplant (engines)
  • Avionics (electronic and navigation systems)

The training is recognized by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and meets a growing market demand, which suffers from a shortage of qualified technicians.

Where Will the Course Be Held?

The classes will be in person, at SEST SENAT, in the Samambaia (Federal District) unit.

Start of classes: March 9, 2026
⏱️ Total workload: 1,440 hours

  • 1,200 hours of theoretical and practical classes
  • 240 hours of internship (the internship is not guaranteed by the program)

Who Can Apply for the Scholarships?

The selection process prioritizes candidates who meet social criteria. Among the profiles eligible are:

  • Low-income individuals
  • Beneficiaries of social programs
  • Students who attended high school in public schools
  • Residents of the Federal District and surrounding areas

Applications are free!

When and How to Apply?

Application period:
➡️ From February 2 to 13, 2026

The candidate must:

  1. Complete the online application form
  2. Attend in person to submit the required documentation

Why Does This Scholarship Attract So Much Attention?

The Brazilian aviation sector is experiencing a moment of expansion but faces a serious bottleneck: a lack of specialized technical labor. Aircraft mechanics are highly demanded professionals by airlines, certified workshops, and maintenance companies.

According to the government, the goals of the program are:

  • To enhance professional qualification in the aviation sector;
  • To generate opportunities for those facing barriers to technical training;
  • To strengthen the infrastructure of Brazilian civil aviation.

The initiative is coordinated by the Ministry of Ports and Airports, in partnership with ANAC, within the Wings for All program.
