In the state of Minas Gerais, the projected investment intention agreements total approximately R$ 32.7 billion for the coming years, according to a report from the Investment and Foreign Trade Promotion Agency of Minas Gerais (Indi). The projects encompass new ventures and job creation in 40 sectors, including solar photovoltaic energy plants, beverages, food, biotechnology, mining, pharmaceuticals, and commerce. Distribution centers for Amazon and Mercado Livre, large e-commerce companies, are also planned. Investments in Minas Gerais

The Petrópolis Group, founded in the eponymous municipality in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, has projected investments of R$ 890 million in its factory in Uberaba, in the Minas Gerais triangle. The factory was built on BR-050, in an area equivalent to almost 15 soccer fields. About 315 job openings are available in the industrial, maintenance, laboratory, and administrative areas.

The investments cover nearly all regions of the state, with the good news of resources to be applied in the less dynamic areas of Northern Minas and the Jequitinhonha Valley, one of the poorest places in Minas.

New Electric Car Factory Will Be Built in the State

The city of Nova Lima, located in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, in the state of Minas Gerais, will host the factory of Bravo Motor Company, which intends to produce electric cars in the municipality. The investment for the implementation of the venture is over R$ 25 billion, with a promise of generating 10,000 direct jobs.

The officialization of the construction of an electric car factory for public transport by Bravo Motor Company represents a historic milestone in the economic transformation, not only of the city and the state of Minas Gerais but also of the country. The new unit, in addition to generating new jobs, will manufacture electric cars, cells and battery packs, storage systems, among other equipment used in shared transport. The venture will be the first of its kind in Latin America.

In the Mining Sector, Lithium Company Presents Major Project in Minas Gerais

The miner Sigma Lithium will invest R$ 859.4 million to produce lithium of high purity on the border between Araçuaí and Itinga, in the Jequitinhonha Valley in Northern Minas Gerais. The company began this month the earthworks for the production and processing plant in Grota do Cirilo, in Itinga. This will be the first plant of its kind in the country, and the expectation is to complete the works in 2022, when it will start producing 220,000 tons per year of lithium concentrate.

During the miner’s work in the state of Minas Gerais, about 400 jobs could be generated, reaching 6,000 indirect job positions, according to the company. Sigma also states that the operation will be 100% digitized and electronically automated, controlled by an algorithm. Sustainable technologies have been adopted, such as 100% water recirculation, dry stacking of 100% of the tailings (without the use of dams), and the use of 100% renewable energy.
