The Minivan Segment Lost Space In Brazil, But Still Resists In 2025 With Only Three Models Available. Find Out What They Are, Their Versions, Prices, And Features.

In the early 2000s, minivans were a common sight in Brazilian malls, schools, and garages. Ample space, versatility, and a high driving position made these cars the number one choice for families.

However, with the rise of SUVs, the segment lost strength, and today only three minivans are available in Brazil.

Despite the change in consumer behavior, these models continue to cater to a specific audience.

Interestingly, none of the brands openly admit that their vehicles belong to the minivan segment, preferring to classify them as SUVs.

This strategy seeks to add value and attract buyers who today associate SUVs with modernity and status.

Minivans For Sale In Brazil

Chevrolet Spin: The Veteran Among Minivans

The Chevrolet Spin is the oldest minivan in production in Brazil and the only one manufactured locally.

Launched in 2012, the model has undergone three facelifts throughout its journey.

The latest update, in 2024, brought an adventurous look, to the point that the brand presented the car as a BUV (Big Utility Vehicle).

Available in five versions, the Spin is also the most affordable minivan in the Brazilian market. Prices range from R$ 119,900 to R$ 160,390, depending on the chosen configuration.

There are options for five or seven occupants, always with a 1.8 flex engine producing 111 hp and 17.7 kgfm of torque.

The transmission can be a six-speed manual in the LT version or a six-speed automatic in the others.

With this offering, the Spin remains the primary choice for families who need a spacious vehicle but do not want to spend too much.

GAC Aion Y: The First Electric Minivan In Brazil

If the Spin represents tradition, the GAC Aion Y symbolizes innovation. Imported from China, it is the first 100% electric minivan available in Brazil.

With a modern style, refined finish, and competitive pricing for the segment, the model aims to attract consumers interested in sustainable mobility.

It is sold in two versions: Premium, priced at R$ 174,990, and Elite, priced at R$ 184,990. Both feature an electric motor with 204 hp and 22.4 kgfm of torque.

The official range is 318 km according to INMETRO standards, but it can reach 490 km under Chinese measurement standards.

In practice, the real range tends to fall between these values.

Unlike its rivals, the Aion Y offers only five seats but compensates with technology and energy efficiency, making it an interesting alternative for smaller families and those looking to reduce fuel costs.

Kia Carnival: Luxury And Power In A Large Minivan

At the other end of the market is the Kia Carnival, aimed at those who desire maximum space and comfort.

This large minivan has been sold in Brazil since the 1990s and has established itself in premium executive and family transport.

Currently, the Carnival is offered in two versions: V.595, priced at R$ 659,990, and V.596, which costs R$ 677,490.

Both come equipped with a 3.5 V6 naturally aspirated engine, capable of delivering 272 hp and 33.2 kgfm of torque. It is the only minivan in Brazilian history with this type of engine.

Although there is a hybrid option in international markets, in Brazil the Carnival remains solely with the gasoline V6, standing out as the most powerful and luxurious among the minivans available in the country.
