New Unit Will Generate Jobs and Strengthen National Energy Transition

Hitachi Energy began construction of a transformer factory in Pindamonhangaba (SP) on August 27, 2024.
The investment of US$ 200 million is expected to boost the production of strategic equipment for the power grid.
The project reinforces the energy transition in Brazil.
The forecast is for completion of the construction by mid-2028, with a direct economic impact in the Paraíba Valley region.

Event Brings Together Authorities and Experts from the Energy Sector

At the event “Hitachi Energy Connection – The New Era of Electricity,” about 220 people participated.
Present were representatives from the energy sector, executives, and authorities.
Ricardo Piorino, mayor of Pindamonhangaba, highlighted that the arrival of the Japanese multinational will strengthen the local economy and attract new companies.
Jorge Lima, Secretary of Development of São Paulo, emphasized the strategic location of the city.
He reminded that Pindamonhangaba is close to ports and airports, an essential factor for exports.
State Deputy André do Prado classified the installation as a milestone for regional growth.
Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President and Minister of Development, stated that the factory represents a strategic move for Brazil and job creation.
Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy, declared that the plant will be fundamental to expand transmission lines in a scenario of increasing energy demand.

Experts Discuss Energy Transition Towards COP30

During the panel “Journey to COP30,” experts reinforced the importance of private initiative in the energy transition.
Elbia Gannoun, CEO of ABEEólica, emphasized that Brazil needs to leverage its renewable matrix to advance electrification.
Wilson Ferreira, president of the board at Matrix Energia, reminded that the energy sector is a model of stability for other segments of the economy.
Venilton Tadini, from ABDIB, pointed out that clarity in long-term investments is essential to ensure security in the sector.
Glauco Freitas, director of Hitachi Energy in Brazil, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to work towards a just and accessible transition.
The statements are aligned with the goals of COP30, which will take place in November 2025 in Belém (PA).

Modern Structure Focused on Sustainability and Jobs

With 46,3 thousand m², the new plant will create 450 direct jobs and up to 1,800 indirect jobs.
In addition, it will strengthen local labor with significant economic impact.
Designed for LEED certification, it will use rainwater and natural light.
It will also have efficient waste management, enhancing its sustainability.
Furthermore, it will use TrafoStar™ technology, a standard from Hitachi Energy.
The factory will serve Brazil and abroad, focusing on energy and data centers.
The equipment will support electrical digitization and the expansion of energy capacity.
Finally, the initiative is strategic in light of the advancement of artificial intelligence.

Expansion Strengthens Leadership in Global Energy Sector

The investment in Pindamonhangaba is part of a global plan by Hitachi Energy, totaling over US$ 9 billion.
Therefore, this action strengthens its global presence.
Additionally, the initiative seeks to expand production, research, and development capacity in various strategic regions.

In Brazil, the company already employs over 1,600 people.
For this reason, it participates in major national projects, such as the Itaipu, Belo Monte, and Rio Madeira plants. However, its impact is not limited to that.
The company is present in more than half of the country’s solar and wind farms.

As it expands its operations, Hitachi maintains operations in Guarulhos (SP) and Blumenau (SC). Thus, the new factory represents a milestone in its expansion across Latin America.
With this advancement, the company reinforces its role as a leader in electrification and energy transition technologies.

In addition to industrial investments, the company promotes relevant social actions.
For example, the Instituto Amanhecer has already benefited more than 2,000 people with inclusion and education projects.
In parallel, Hitachi maintains its commitment to sustainable and human development.
