The Governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium, Celebrates the Beginning of Exploration of Two Oil Blocks in the State and Highlights the Energy Advance After the Connection to the National Interconnected System. According to Him, the Project Will Be a Turning Point for the Regional Economy.
The State of Roraima officially entered the map of oil exploration in Brazil. Governor Antonio Denarium (PP) announced that the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) authorized research and exploration in two oil blocks located in the Roraima territory. The news, according to him, represents a “turning point” for the State’s economy and reinforces the regional prominence in the national energy matrix.
The statement was made during the seminar “Energy and Regional Development: Convergence for Brazil’s Future”, held this Wednesday (November 5, 2025), in Brasília. The event was promoted by Eneva, in partnership with the newspaper Poder360.
Energy Advance Places Roraima in a New Growth Phase
For Denarium, the announcement from ANP comes at a symbolic moment. Roraima has just completed one of the most awaited projects in its recent history: the connection to the National Interconnected System (SIN). This integration ends decades of dependence on local and expensive sources, like diesel oil used in thermal plants.

Offshore industrial demand in Macaé skyrockets with the recovery of oil and gas and could grow by up to 396% by 2026 in the Campos Basin.
“When I took office in 2019, Roraima was the only State in Brazil that was not interconnected. All our energy was powered by diesel oil from thermal plants, energy that was very expensive and polluting,” said the governor.
With the entry into the SIN, the State now has continuous and reliable energy supply, paving the way for industrial and technological investments.
Clean Energy and Infrastructure Strengthen the Future of the State
In addition to oil, the state government has been strongly betting on renewable energy sources, seeking to diversify its energy matrix. According to Denarium, the first renewable energy auction in Roraima attracted projects in natural gas and biomass, including the use of palm oil and acacia as alternative sources.
The inauguration of the Manaus-Boa Vista transmission line, known as Linhão de Tucuruí, in September, completed this modernization cycle. “Today we have all the benefits of having a very secure energy system,” declared the governor, emphasizing that local renewable energy sources serve as an important backup to prevent collapses in the electrical system.
Oil Drives Industrialization and Attracts New Investments
With cheaper, stable, and sustainable energy, Roraima is entering a new phase: industrialization. Denarium highlighted that the energy infrastructure now creates the ideal conditions for productive growth. “There is now great expectation, with quality energy and energy security, for attracting a company for the production of corn ethanol. We will complete the entire production cycle,” he stated.
In the previous week, the government inaugurated a soybean crushing plant that is already in operation, processing grains and exporting oil and meal to neighboring countries. This initiative symbolizes the advancement of the local production chain and the commitment to generating value within the State.
Roraima Seeks Prominence in the National Energy Matrix
The announcement of oil exploration adds to the recent advances in renewable energy and reinforces the government’s vision of transforming Roraima into a national reference in energy security and sustainability. Denarium emphasized that the balance between clean sources and fossil fuels will be essential to ensure safe supply and stimulate economic development.
“We had this very good news from the ANP, which announces research and exploration of 2 oil blocks in the State,” said the governor. According to him, the investment will bring jobs, boost the economy, and allow Roraima to actively participate in the country’s energy transition.
