Starting this Monday (10), a section of BR-101 will be blocked for two months due to construction at km 328. Drivers will face detours and possible delays. Stay alert for changes in traffic and plan your route in advance to avoid disruptions.

Traveling in Southern Santa Catarina can become a challenge for drivers who use BR-101 daily.

An essential stretch of the highway, located at km 328 of the northbound lane, will undergo a closure that may last up to two months, requiring drivers to seek alternative routes and prepare for changes in traffic flow.

The decision to close part of the highway is due to improvement works and adjustments to the access ramp to the municipality of Capivari de Baixo.

The closure, which begins this Monday, February 10, 2025, aims to enhance safety and mobility in the region.

However, this measure will require extra attention from drivers traveling through the area and may cause impacts on local and interstate traffic.

Alternative Routes and Recommendations for Drivers

With the closure at km 328, drivers will need to use a detour at km 331, located just after the Top Brasil store.

The route will follow the service road until the Diamante company, where it will be possible to access the Friendship Bridge roundabout and return to the original route.

The concessionaire responsible for the highway, CCR ViaCosteira, informs that signage will be reinforced along the closed section to guide drivers.

Still, it is recommended that users plan their trips in advance and stay attentive to possible changes in the construction schedule.

The duration of the closure may vary depending on weather conditions and any unforeseen events that may arise during the infrastructure work.

CCR ViaCosteira emphasizes that respecting signage and maintaining attention in the construction area are essential measures to ensure the safety of all road users.

Failure to follow the guidelines may result in accidents and further aggravate traffic flow in the region.

Traffic Impacts and Construction Outlook on BR-101

BR-101 is one of Brazil’s main highways and plays a strategic role in connecting states and municipalities.

The partial closure may generate significant impacts, especially for the transportation of goods and passengers who rely on the route to reach their destinations without major delays.

The construction works on the access ramp to Capivari de Baixo are part of a broad set of planned interventions to modernize the highway.

The National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) recently announced an investment package for improvements on BR-101 in Santa Catarina, with an estimated budget of R$ 8.5 billion.

Among the planned works are the implementation of additional lanes and service roads, aiming to increase the highway’s capacity at critical points such as Joinville, Itajaí, Balneário Camboriú, and Itapema.

Additionally, ANTT predicts that, still in February 2025, the final proposal for the execution of priority works on BR-101 will be submitted to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).

Once the document is analyzed and approved, the federal government may authorize the start of the interventions, ensuring improvements for drivers and transporters who regularly use the highway.

Tips to Avoid Disruptions During the Closure

During the construction period, drivers traveling through the affected section should adopt some measures to minimize the impacts of the closure:

  • Route Planning: always check traffic conditions before leaving and consider alternative routes to avoid congestion.
  • Attention to Signage: follow the instructions provided by CCR ViaCosteira and pay attention to the signs along the route.
  • Speed Reduction: respect the limits set in the construction area to avoid accidents and ensure the safety of all users.
  • Use of Navigation Apps: tools like Google Maps and Waze can help identify more congested sections and suggest alternative routes.
  • Avoid Peak Hours: if possible, schedule your trip for times with lighter traffic, reducing the risk of significant delays.

Although the closure of km 328 of BR-101 may cause temporary disruptions, the construction is essential to improve road infrastructure and ensure greater safety for drivers.

The two-month closure will require patience and increased attention from drivers, who should follow the recommendations to minimize impacts on their travel.

With billion-dollar investments planned for BR-101 in Santa Catarina, the expectation is that improvements to the highway will result in more efficient and safer traffic in the coming years.

In the meantime, the cooperation of drivers is crucial to ensure that the construction proceeds in an organized manner and within the planned timeline.
