Petrobras Autonomy and Income Program Opens Thousands of Slots in Technical and Qualification Courses, with a Monthly Scholarship of R$ 660 and an Increased Amount of R$ 858 for Mothers with Children Up to 11 Years Old, Prioritizing People in Social Vulnerability and Without Formal Employment in Several Brazilian States.
The combination of unemployment, low income, and lack of money to pay for a course still prevents many Brazilians from returning to study. To face this scenario, Petrobras has structured the Autonomy and Income Program, which offers free courses with a monthly scholarship for people in social vulnerability.
The initiative is carried out in partnership with the IFs (Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology) and with units of SESI/SENAI, bringing professional training to residents of areas close to the state-owned company’s operations.
According to Petrobras and the FAIFSul Foundation, responsible for the project’s administrative management, the program plans to invest approximately R$ 350 million to qualify around 20,000 people between 2024 and 2027, in technical and qualification courses in different states.

Senai will pay up to R$ 700 per month for those who take free technical courses: there are 12,000 open positions across Brazil and training with access to the technology market.
-
Take one of the free courses from SENAI! There are over 100 options for training completely online and with a guaranteed certificate in Logistics, Mechanics, Business, Energy, Safety, and much more; see how to enroll and boost your resume with SENAI EAD.
-
Petrobras and SENAI join forces and launch free technology courses that pay up to R$ 706.
-
Federal Institute calls for EAD and free course with 200 spots in a 400-hour specialization.
In addition to supporting training, the Autonomy and Income aims to increase the hiring chances of students by companies in the oil and gas chain and other sectors, arranging professional insertion with public employment systems.
Who Can Participate in Petrobras’ Free Courses
The target audience of the program is people in socioeconomic vulnerability, without formal employment and with a family income of up to half a minimum wage per person, residing in areas covered by Petrobras operations and the municipalities where the courses are offered.
Public notices published by the Federal Institutes and by Petrobras itself emphasize that priority is given to women, black and mixed-race people, transgender people, Indigenous people, quilombolas, refugees, and people with disabilities, reinforcing the inclusion and diversity bias in the selection process.
To participate, one must be at least 18 years old and meet the educational prerequisites of each course, which can vary from completed primary education to completed high school, according to local notices.
R$ 660 and Up to R$ 858 Scholarship: How the Financial Aid Works
One of the most striking points is the monthly scholarship paid throughout the course period. In various notices, the basic amount is R$ 660, intended for all selected students who maintain the required attendance.
Women with children up to 11 years old receive greater support: in these cases, the scholarship can reach R$ 858 per month, specifically to help cover extra expenses for childcare.
In some institutions, the program also offers child recreation spaces so that children can be safe while their guardians study, a measure highlighted by IFMG, IFSP, and IFES as essential for ensuring student retention.
Free Courses in Technical and Operational Areas in Several States
The Autonomy and Income program offers both qualification courses (FIC) and subsequent technical courses, primarily in areas related to the oil and gas sector and industry. Among the most commonly offered trainings are electrical assistant, scaffolder, boilermaker, industrial painter, welder, warehouseman, general services assistant, and industrial electrician.
At the technical level, options include Technical in Occupational Safety, Technical in Production Planning and Control, Technical in Electrotechnics, Technical in Welding, and Technical in Industrial Automation, among others, all in-person and with extended hours.
According to Petrobras and Firjan SENAI SESI, the courses are offered in dozens of municipalities in states such as Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Pernambuco, with classes opened gradually throughout the execution years.
The content combines technical classes with human development workshops, reinforcement in Portuguese and mathematics, and psychosocial support, just to increase employability and reduce dropout rates.
How to Register for Petrobras’ Free Courses
Registrations are free and carried out exclusively online, through the official website of the Autonomy and Income Program, at the address autonomiaerenda.com.br, in the “Notices” area. There, the candidate selects the course and campus of interest, fills out the form, and submits the required documentation.
According to notices from the Federal Institutes and communications from Petrobras, the selection is usually made by electronic public lottery, with priority criteria for low-income candidates and those belonging to the marginalized groups defined in the program.
Therefore, it is essential to read each notice carefully, as deadlines, available courses, and requirements may change from state to state.
Recent reports from regional portals indicate that new notices are being issued at different times of the year and that there are plans to expand opportunities between November and December, with slots available in various locations across the country. Thus, those who meet the criteria should frequently monitor the program’s website and the pages of partnering Federal Institutes.
