Petrobras Achieves Record Production of 3.14 Million Barrels of Oil Per Day, Driven by New Platforms and Expansion of Pre-Salt. The State-Owned Company Also Increases Exports and Invests in Sustainable Fuels.

Petrobras reached a historic milestone in the third quarter of 2025. The total production of oil, natural gas, and NGL reached 3.14 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, a 16.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This result consolidates the state-owned company as one of the world’s leading energy producers and reflects the progress of pre-salt in the Brazilian energy matrix.

Additionally, the growth was 7.6% compared to the second quarter of 2025, demonstrating that the pace of expansion remains accelerated even in the face of a global economic uncertainty scenario.

Pre-Salt and New Platforms Drive National Production

Among the factors explaining the production jump is the start-up of the floating unit Almirante Tamandaré, the largest platform in Latin America, installed in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin. With a capacity to process 225,000 barrels of oil per day, the structure symbolizes the technological efficiency achieved by the company.

In addition to Búzios, the Campos and Santos basins also reported performance above expectations, driven by eleven new production wells in the first and four in the second. Recent platforms such as Maria Quitéria, Anita Garibaldi, Anna Nery, and Alexandre de Gusmão also contributed to the positive result.

The Maria Quitéria, installed in the Jubarte field, in the Whale Park, started operating in 2024 and plays a strategic role in increasing the production of light oil.

Exports and Fuel Sales Grow at an Accelerated Pace

The strong performance in production was accompanied by a rise in oil exports, which reached 814 million barrels, and a significant increase in diesel sales, with a 12.2% rise in the quarter.

These numbers reinforce Petrobras’s presence in the global energy market and demonstrate how Brazil is consolidating its position as a strategic player in crude oil exports, especially with the advancement of production in the pre-salt.

Petrobras Advances in Decarbonization and Invests in Sustainable Fuels

Amid growth, Petrobras has also strengthened its decarbonization and innovation strategy in low-carbon fuels. The state-owned company highlighted advancements in the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) segment, considered essential for the global energy transition.

The Duque de Caxias Refinery (REDUC), in Rio de Janeiro, received authorization from the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP) to incorporate 1.2% of renewable feedstocks in the production of SAF — an important milestone for the start of commercial-scale production of this biofuel in the country.

According to Petrobras, “the company has consolidated significant advancements in its decarbonization and innovation trajectory, with a focus on the sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) segment.”

Natural Gas Market Also Registers Significant Growth

In the natural gas sector, Petrobras reached 6.5 million cubic meters per day (MMm³/d) in the free market, representing a 14% growth compared to the previous quarter. The result reflects increased competitiveness and the diversification of the state-owned company’s customer base.

This movement reinforces the company’s strategy to expand the supply of natural gas in a market opening context, consolidating its position as a key supplier for industries and regional distributors.

The record performance of 2025 shows that Petrobras remains steadfast in its modernization and efficiency trajectory. With investments aimed at technology, emission reduction, and the sustainable exploration of pre-salt, the state-owned company seeks to balance economic growth and environmental commitment, maintaining its leading role in the global energy transition.
