PetroReconcavo invests to transform the Bahian energy market
PetroReconcavo, one of the largest independent oil and gas producers in onshore areas in Brazil, is allocating R$340 million, approximately US$60 million, to build a new Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) in Pojuca, Bahia. This investment reinforces its presence in the region, with operations scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
Greater autonomy and infrastructure with historic investment
This project is PetroReconcavo’s largest single investment, a decision that will expand its production capacity. The new Miranga UPGN will have an initial capacity to process 950 thousand cubic meters of gas per day, with the potential to expand to 1,5 million, which strengthens its position in the midstream segment and therefore reduces dependence on third parties.
Benefits for the local economy and more jobs
The Miranga UPGN, when installed in Pojuca, will generate approximately 400 direct jobs during its construction, which will certainly boost the local economy. In addition, the plant should attract new businesses and services to the region, reaffirming PetroReconcavo's commitment to the economic development of Bahia.
- Oil exploration on the Equatorial Margin: 16 billion barrels and 326 thousand jobs that can transform Amapá and Brazil
- Billion-dollar offshore deal: PRIO invests US$1,92 billion and takes over 40% of giant offshore field in Brazil after Chinese companies leave
- New gas discovery in South America takes Venezuela to 300,9 BILLION barrels, surpasses Saudi Arabia, Canada and Iraq, and leaves the Middle East eating dust!
- Federal government approves and pre-salt oil will be auctioned! New Chinese dominance?
Expansion and strategic operational independence
With its own processing unit, PetroReconcavo strengthens its operational independence, as it fully controls its gas production, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. This move complements the São Roque UTG, in operation since August, which already processes 400 cubic meters of gas per day.
Commitment to sustainability and clean energy
With a plant that uses natural gas – a cleaner energy source than other fossil fuels –, PetroReconcavo expands its contribution to a more sustainable sector. The new unit, in addition, meets the growing demand, promoting an efficient and less polluting energy matrix.
Consolidated leadership in the Northeast gas market
PetroReconcavo is currently a leader in the natural gas sector in the Northeast, with contracts with major distributors such as Bahiagás, Potigás, Sergas and Copergás. These partnerships reinforce its commitment to expanding the region's energy infrastructure and broadly serving the local market.
A definitive milestone for PetroReconcavo in midstream
This project marks an essential step forward for PetroReconcavo in the midstream sector, as it significantly expands its infrastructure and production capacity. In this way, the company becomes even more competitive, with the conditions to meet the growing demand for natural gas in the Northeast with greater autonomy.
Strategic vision for productivity and agility
João Vitor Moreira, Vice President of Sales and New Business at PetroReconcavo, highlights that the Miranga UPGN provides autonomy and greater productivity, by ensuring the capacity to process 100% of the expected production. With this, PetroReconcavo reaffirms its confidence in the natural gas market in Brazil.
The future of natural gas in Bahia with PetroReconcavo
PetroReconcavo's investment in the new UPGN Miranga represents an essential step forward for the natural gas sector in Bahia and will certainly contribute to local economic development, in addition to promoting more sustainable operations. Thus, the company positions itself as a leader in the energy sector in the Northeast, benefiting the population and strengthening a clean energy matrix.
The construction of the Miranga UPGN reflects PetroReconcavo’s strategic vision to expand and strengthen the natural gas sector in Brazil. With a record investment and a focus on sustainability, the company is ready to lead the energy sector in the Northeast, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable system.
