Family Farmers in Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte Gain New Breath with PGPAF Bonus, Which Expands Discounts on Sugarcane Production in the Northeast Until December 9
The sugarcane production in the Northeast is experiencing a moment of relief and positive expectation, according to a report published.
With the publication of Portaria SAF/MDA No. 349, dated November 6, 2025, sugarcane producers in Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte are entitled to the bonus of the Price Guarantee Program for Family Agriculture (PGPAF).
The benefit, valid from November 10 to December 9, was calculated by the National Supply Company (Conab) based on the variation of average market prices and the official guarantee price.

The US faces a meat crisis with fires, pests, and strikes, consumption rises and supply falls to the lowest level since 1952, creating a billion-dollar opportunity for Brazilian exports to grow in 2026.
The program, announced by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA), provides discounts that can be used to pay or amortize the installments of the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf).
This measure has a direct impact on the income of small producers, strengthening the rural economy and helping to maintain agricultural activity during a period of rising costs and climatic instability.
In addition to sugarcane production in the Northeast, other agricultural products have seen important updates on the November list.
Rice, for example, is now subsidized in Piauí, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and São Paulo.
Bananas are now benefiting in Ceará and Goiás, cashews in Ceará, milk in Sergipe, and wheat in the Federal District.
PGPAF Bonus Stimulates the Rural Economy and Guarantees Fair Minimum Prices
The PGPAF bonus for family farmers acts as financial compensation when the market value of a certain product falls below the guarantee price set by the federal government.
This difference can be deducted from the active Pronaf financing, providing economic security and predictability for producers.
In practice, this means that if the market price of sugarcane falls below the reference value calculated by Conab, the producers in Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte will be able to deduct the difference from their installment payments.
Thus, the program not only protects the farmer from market fluctuations but also encourages the continuity of sugarcane production in the Northeast in regions where the sector plays a strategic role in generating jobs and income.
The monthly updates of PGPAF are published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) and can be accessed directly on the MDA’s website.
The November list details all the products included, the benefiting states, and the applicable bonus percentages.
Pronaf and Conab Strengthen Financial Support and Productive Security in the Field
With the technical support of Conab, production costs and regional variations are analyzed in detail, ensuring that the bonus reflects the real conditions of the agricultural market.
This methodology ensures that the program remains an effective tool for sugarcane production in the Northeast, contributing to the financial balance of families who directly depend on the activity.
The Pronaf, in turn, is the main public credit policy aimed at family agriculture in the country. It finances everything from modernizing production structures to the processing and industrialization of rural products.
The resources can be applied in agro-industrial systems, storage infrastructure, or the acquisition of machinery, ensuring that small producers have access to technology and competitiveness.
In the specific case of Northeastern sugarcane, the PGPAF bonus represents more than just a discount: it strengthens the economic and social sustainability of the field, allowing hundreds of farmers to maintain their activities in a challenging market scenario.
According to the MDA, the program is essential to reduce regional inequalities and consolidate family agriculture as a vector of sustainable development in the semiarid region.
The complete list of products and bonus percentages can be checked on the official portal of the Ministry, ensuring transparency and access to information for all beneficiaries.
The initiative reaffirms the federal government’s commitment to the strengthening of productive chains and support for family farmers who drive regional growth, especially in areas of sugarcane production in the Northeast.
