The Brazilian automotive sector closed September 2025 on a positive note. In total, 230,539 new vehicles were registered, representing a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Compared to August, the growth was even more significant: 7.8% increase. The year-to-date total now stands at 1,806,568 units sold, ensuring a slight performance improvement of 3.2% compared to 2024, according to data released by the consulting firm K.Lume.

The standout this time was the Fiat Strada, which regained market leadership with 13,876 units sold. The month of September also highlighted the strength of electrified vehicles. The BYD Dolphin Mini continues to be the best-selling electric car, reaching 3,392 units, surpassing traditional competitors like the Toyota Corolla, Ford Ranger, and Volkswagen Virtus. Another highlight was the BYD Song Plus, with 1,926 registrations, confirming the increasing presence of the Chinese brand in the national market.

What the Numbers Reveal About the Future of the Automotive Sector

The data shows that Brazilian consumers are increasingly diverse in their choices. While pickups like the Fiat Strada and Volkswagen Saveiro remain popular, SUVs like the Volkswagen Tera and Jeep Compass dominate the preferences of the middle and upper classes. Meanwhile, electric and hybrid vehicles are gradually but consistently advancing, paving the way for a future of greater electrification of the fleet.

According to the magazine Auto Esporte, which released part of the data analyzed by the consulting firm K.Lume, the market’s return to growth in 2025 shows optimism and consolidation in the sector. The increase of 4.1% compared to September 2024 and the advancement of 7.8% relative to August 2025 reinforce that the demand for new vehicles remains strong.
