The Government of the State of São Paulo Gave the Green Light for the Construction of a New Rural Bridge in Presidente Prudente. With an Investment of R$ 1.7 Million, the Work Promises to Resolve Logistical Bottlenecks, Ensure More Safety, and Improve Residents’ Access to Essential Services.
Last Tuesday, the Government of the State of São Paulo authorized the construction of a new bridge over the Onça stream, on the rural road PSP-435, in Presidente Prudente.
The work will be carried out through a partnership between the State Civil Defense and the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (SAA). The investment will be R$ 1.7 million.
Improvements for Those Who Live Far from Urban Centers
According to the Secretary of Agriculture, Guilherme Piai, the initiative is part of the São Paulo government’s efforts to bring infrastructure to rural areas.

The bridge will be built in the Montalvão District, in the Timburi neighborhood.
Currently, there is a wooden structure, which is damaged and poses risks to users.
The replacement will bring safety and better conditions for those who use the road, including school transport vehicles and ambulances.
Strategic Bridge for Agricultural Transport
The mayor of Presidente Prudente, Milton Carlos de Mello, known as Tupã, highlighted the strategic importance of the work for the local economy. “The bridge is located at a strategic point and serves for the transport of agricultural production, especially sweet potatoes, which are abundant in that region. It is also used for the passage of vehicles transporting students and patients from health services,” he explained.
The expectation is that the new structure improves logistics and reduces transport costs for producers.
Advances in Rural Infrastructure
In June, the SAA had already announced new investments in the region’s agribusiness through the Caravana 3D.
In total, resources amounting to R$ 16 million were delivered. The goal is to strengthen infrastructure, production, and competitiveness in western São Paulo.
In 2025, the sweet potato from Presidente Prudente received Geographical Indication (GI) certification, reinforcing the region’s potential.
The process is in its final analysis phase by the National Institute of Industrial Property (Inpi).
Presidente Prudente leads the state production of the tuber, with about 180 producers spread across neighboring cities.
The state of São Paulo is the largest national producer of sweet potatoes, with over 182 thousand tons per year.
The region’s agriculture is also strong in beef and sugarcane production, which together represent 67% of the local Agricultural Production Value (VPA). With around R$ 6 billion generated, the Presidente Prudente region ranks 9th in the state VPA ranking.
