Volkswagen Medium SUV Arrives Restyled, More Technological, and with New Automatic Transmission. Starting Price is R$ 199,990.

The Volkswagen Taos 2026 arrives in the Brazilian market with a strategic combination that attracts attention: lower price, updated look, and new automatic transmission.

The medium SUV from Volkswagen is now sold starting at R$ 199,990, up to R$ 22,000 below the previous value, with sales starting next Thursday (22) at the brand’s dealerships nationwide.

The model, now imported from Mexico, invests in repositioning to gain traction in one of the most competitive segments in the national market.

Thus, the price reduction occurs precisely at a time of increased competition among medium SUVs, which helps explain the automaker’s new strategy.

In addition, the Taos restyled comes with improvements in the technology package, interior finish, and performance, retaining the engine already familiar to the Brazilian public.

Volkswagen Taos 2026 Price: Significant Drop in Both Versions

One of the main highlights of the launch is the price.

Volkswagen repositioned the Taos to make it more competitive, especially against direct rivals.

Check out the updated prices for the medium SUV:

Volkswagen Taos Comfortline 2026 – R$ 199,990 (previously R$ 206,990);

Volkswagen Taos Highline 2026 – R$ 209,990 (previously R$ 231,990).

The biggest reduction is in the Highline version, which is R$ 22,000 cheaper. This also reduces the difference between the two configurations, which may directly influence consumer decisions.

Restyled Taos Adopts New Brand Visual Identity

Although the new price is attractive, the restyled Taos also evolves in design.

The medium SUV now adopts a visual language closer to other recent models from the brand in Brazil.

At the front, the Volkswagen Taos gains a more tapered grille and headlights, with LED signatures and an “X” shape in the main cannon design.

The bumper became more robust and the air intake was enlarged, enhancing the modern appearance.

At the rear, a luminous strip with a glossy black finish connects the taillights.

The Volkswagen logo receives red illumination in the center, following trends already seen in other SUVs from the brand. The wheels range between 18 and 19 inches, depending on the version.

More Refined Interior and Focus on Connectivity

Inside, the Volkswagen Taos 2026 advances in finish and technology.

Seats, dashboard, and doors receive higher quality upholstery, creating a more sophisticated feel on board.

The main highlight is the VW Play Connect 10.1-inch floating multimedia center.

The system allows wireless mirroring for Apple CarPlay, while Android Auto still requires a wired connection.

Additionally, the medium SUV already features dual-zone digital air conditioning and wireless phone charging starting from the Comfortline version, reinforcing the comfort proposal for daily use.

Standard Equipment of the Volkswagen Taos 2026

The equipment list is extensive even in the entry-level version. The Taos Comfortline offers:

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection;

Six airbags and traction and stability controls;

Dual-zone digital air conditioning;

10.1” multimedia center and 10.25” digital dashboard;

Full-LED headlights, rearview camera, and 18” wheels.

The Taos Highline adds advanced driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane-keeping assist, blind-spot detector, and driving mode selector.

Thus, the wheels are 19 inches and the seats have partial leather upholstery.

New Automatic Transmission Improves Performance of the Medium SUV

In terms of mechanics, the big news for the Volkswagen Taos 2026 is the eight-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the old six-speed transmission.

Thus, the change contributes to greater efficiency and better response in accelerations.

The engine remains the well-known 1.4 turbo flex from the TSI family, delivering 150 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque.

With the new setup, the Taos accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds, an improvement of 0.3 seconds compared to the previous model.

Dimensions and Cargo Space Remain Unchanged

Even with the visual changes, the medium SUV has maintained its dimensions.

Thus, the Volkswagen Taos measures 4.46 meters in length, 1.84 m in width, 1.62 m in height, and 2.68 m in wheelbase.

The cargo space remains one of the model’s strong points, with a capacity of 498 liters, a competitive figure within the category.

Strategy Aims to Regain Space in the Segment

With a more competitive price, updated look, and new automatic transmission, the Volkswagen Taos 2026 enters the market with stronger arguments.

Thus, the brand’s strategy is clear: reposition the medium SUV to compete for space in an increasingly crowded segment, offering more content for a lower price.

Thus, the combination of reduced cost, technology, and performance should be decisive in attracting new consumers and reinforcing the presence of the Taos on Brazilian streets.
