The New Uber Rules in 2025 Change the Calculation of Acceptance and Cancellation of Rides, Directly Impacting Drivers and Passengers in Their Daily Lives.

Uber announced that starting from February 18, 2025, the way of calculating acceptance and cancellation rates will be different. Previously, the platform evaluated drivers based on the last 30 days; now, the calculation will be based on the last 100 requests received.

In practice, this means that rates may fluctuate more rapidly. If a driver repeatedly declines or accepts many rides in a row, the percentages can drop or rise in a matter of hours. For passengers, the impact is direct: more cancellations may result in longer wait times and a risk of blocking drivers who accept and then cancel.

How the New Acceptance and Cancellation Calculation Works

According to the channel Uber do Maia, which received the official notice within the app, the calculation becomes transparent: if a driver accepts 50 of the last 100 requested rides, their rate will be 50%.

If they only accept 10, it will fall to 10%.

This change impacts drivers on UberX the most, as they receive many requests and filter rides by price, route, or safety.

The recommendation is clear: avoid accepting and canceling. This behavior is considered more detrimental by the platform and can lead to temporary suspensions.

What Doesn’t Change in the Star Rating

A common question was whether the changes would affect the rating score.

Uber clarified that the star rating remains the same, based on the last 500 received ratings.

In other words, the new rule only applies to acceptance and cancellation of rides.

This brings some relief to drivers, as their overall profile reputation will not be directly impacted by momentary fluctuations in acceptance rates.

Uber Pro: Attention to Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Levels

Another key point is the impact on Uber Pro, the benefits program that offers advantages for drivers in the Gold, Platinum, and Diamond categories.

Now, eligibility will also be calculated based on the last 100 requests.

To avoid injustices, Uber has created a protection period until March 4, 2025.

During this period, drops in rates caused by the change will not affect the driver’s current level.

However, after this date, the new calculation will fully apply for promotions and downgrades.

Best Practices for Drivers to Avoid Penalties

YouTube Video

Rafael Maia’s video highlights practical recommendations:

Do not accept bad rides to cancel later: this weighs more than simply refusing beforehand.

Monitor your rates daily in the app profile and on Uber Pro.

Continue selecting rides carefully, analyzing price, route, and risk, but avoid impulsive decisions.

For drivers in areas with a high volume of requests, the alert is greater: the rate can drop quickly during dynamic times.

In this scenario, declining is less risky than accepting and canceling.

The new Uber rules in 2025 promise more agility in calculating rates, but they also bring risks of blocking for drivers who do not adapt.

For passengers, the change may reduce last-minute cancellations, but only if there is adherence to best practices.

What about you, have you noticed an impact from these new Uber rules in your daily life? Do you think they will improve the experience or simply increase the pressure on drivers? Leave your opinion in the comments — we want to hear from those who are experiencing these changes firsthand.
