Developed by Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus in partnership with CBMM, the new technology promises ultra-fast charging, superior durability and a boost to the national economy

Niobium, a strategic metal widely available in Brazil, has standing out for its exceptional properties, such as high strength and ductility. However, its potential is still underutilized, since the country, to a large extent, exports niobium as a raw material, which limits the added value of the product. Now, An innovation in the energy storage market promises to change this scenario: the niobium battery, according to the video on the Detailed Engineering channel.

This technology, developed by Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO) andin partnership with the Brazilian Metallurgy and Mining Company (CBMM), could be a game changer for the electric vehicle sector. Promising to fully charge in just six minutes, the niobium battery is a solution that challenges the limitations of lithium batteries, which currently dominate the market.

Innovation and durability: Advantages of niobium batteries

The niobium battery is not only faster at charging, it is also significantly more durable. Designed to withstand up to 10.000 charge and discharge cycles, this battery has a lifespan of about 20 years, which represents a substantial improvement over lithium batteries, which usually last less than half that time.

Furthermore, the use of niobium in the manufacture of these batteries increases the added value of the metal, providing Brazil with a unique opportunity to transform its economy. Technology offers a path for the country to establish itself as a global leader in the energy storage sector, capitalizing on its vast natural resource of niobium.

Challenges to be overcome

Despite the optimism surrounding the niobium battery, technology faces some significant challenges. One of the main ones is the lower energy density compared to traditional lithium batteries. This means that, although niobium batteries charge quickly and are more durable, the autonomy of electric vehicles equipped with these batteries is still inferior.

Furthermore, the large-scale implementation of this technology will require the development of a specific charging infrastructure. The current network of charging stations, largely designed for lithium batteries, would not be compatible with the unique needs of niobium batteries, which implies new investments and strategic planning to support this innovation.

It's already quite cliché to say that Bolsonaro warned and everyone didn't believe him, right? It's ridiculous what politics does to sensible men.
Now we sell a ton of niobium for the same price as 2 bunches of **** and we are the ones who will buy back the technology at prices adjusted to Euros. My manly Monkey.

There are no arguments against facts. I don't like Bolsonaro, but just look at the data from past governments and Bolsonaro was the best. He did more for the people and opened the doors for investment. Lula only taxes and does nothing. **** is someone who doesn't want to see the data and ignore reality. Segovia is for an ideology that only goes backwards.

Stop it.hehehem, GDP at 3% is no use to you who are out of touch with reality, thinking and afraid of left-wing ideology. The problem is the extremes of the right and the left. Lula is right.

You are a complete idiot. You are not able to point out a single fact that Pilanyra's government is better than Lula's. Unemployment, average wage, inflation, GDP, etc. You don't even know Portuguese.

But Lula already holds this title. It is part of the left to want to accuse others of what they are.

For left-wing victims, the answer can only be these, in relation to Bolsonaro

Brazil needs to take possession of the wealth it has. 90% of Brazilians do not know what niobium is.
