The multinational plans to revitalize its portfolio with the reintroduction of an iconic model, accompanied by market innovations. The 2024 Volkswagen Passat, known and admired worldwide, is expected to return with a completely redesigned appearance, promising a unique and modern look.
New Design of the VW Passat 2024 Surprises the Automotive Market
Volkswagen “killed” the Passat in most markets in recent years, but it remains alive in Europe for a few more years. The new generation of the model was officially presented with a major change: the sedan has been discontinued and will only be sold in the station wagon variant.
Using the same MQB Evo platform as the Golf, the new 2024 VW Passat is considerably larger than its predecessor. Now, the model measures 4,917 mm in length, which is 144 mm more. The width has increased by 20 mm to 1,852 mm, while its height remains the same at 1,506 mm. The wheelbase has been extended by 50 mm, now measuring 2,841 mm.

Although it’s not revolutionary, the style is also not evolutionary, as there are some changes making the new Volkswagen Passat more aligned with the design of the brand’s electric vehicles.
As usual, the external design will depend on the Passat version, Business, R-Line, and Elegance. Wheels of up to 19 inches will be offered, along with newly developed LED Matrix headlights and dynamic LEDs at the rear, where a light bar has been installed.

The interior of the 2024 Volkswagen Passat represents a significant change compared to the previous version, as VW eliminated much of the physical controls. Access to almost all available functions will be done through a touchscreen measuring a generous 12.9 inches, even in the base model. For an additional cost, the multimedia screen can be expanded to 15 inches.
A fully digital instrument panel of 10.25 inches is standard, thus, the German brand is saying goodbye to the good old analog displays that were offered in the last generation.

Another detail similar to the electric model is that there is a new switch on the left side to control the indicators and wipers. Front comfort can be enhanced by opting for the new heated, ventilated, and massaging seats with 14-way electric adjustment.
New VW Passat 2024 Can Deliver Up to 265 Horsepower
The engine lineup is extensive and includes a mild hybrid gasoline unit for the first time in the history of the 2024 Volkswagen Passat.
It consists of a 1.5 eTSI with cylinder deactivation technology and 150 horsepower. Next comes a 2.0 TSI with 204 horsepower in the front-wheel-drive version and a more powerful configuration with 265 horsepower and 4Motion all-wheel drive.
For those who still want a diesel engine in 2024, Volkswagen will offer the 2.0 TDI in three power levels: 122 horsepower and 149 horsepower in the front-wheel-drive models and 193 horsepower with all-wheel drive. All gasoline and diesel versions of the new Passat use a 7-speed dual-clutch automated transmission.
There are also plug-in hybrids marketed as eHybrid models. The base variant offers 204 horsepower, while the more powerful offers 272 horsepower, making the VW Passat more powerful than money can buy.
