The Instituto Federal de Pernambuco (IFPE) has just opened registrations for a free Initial and Continuing English course, focused on intermediate level, offered by the Recife Campus. This is an unmissable opportunity for those who want to improve their language skills and upgrade their resume, which is essential in an increasingly competitive job market. In addition to being free, the course aims to provide a solid foundation for those who want to achieve fluency, expanding professional and academic opportunities.
Who can enroll in the Federal Institute's free English courses?
The Notice offers 80 places for the free Intermediate English course for two groups. The training aims, in general, to enable students to develop communication skills in English at an intermediate level, covering aspects of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
To facilitate the completion of the activities, the free English courses will be semi-presential, that is, of the 90 hours provided for in the training, part will take place in face-to-face activities and the other part in the distance learning modality. The activities will take place on Wednesdays.

Students, civil servants and outsourced employees of the IFPE Campus Recife and candidates from the external community can participate in the free FIC Intermediate English course at the Federal Institute. In addition, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Have a pre-intermediate level in English, that is, level B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference;
- Have completed at least elementary school.
Proof of fluency in English can be provided through a certificate issued by an authorized institution or through an assessment carried out by the Federal Institute.
Registration for the free English course at IFPE
Registration for the free English courses offered by the Federal Institute is open exclusively online, between September 19 and 21, 2024, or until all places are filled. Interested parties should access the specific links for each class and fill out the registration form:
Candidates for the free English course at IFPE will be ranked according to their order of registration and proof of their level of fluency in English. Candidates may present a proficiency certificate or choose to take a proficiency exam offered by IFPE.
Students who complete the free English course will receive a certificate issued by the IFPE Academic Control Management Coordination. Classes are scheduled to begin on November 13, 2024, and the results of the selection process will be announced according to the schedule established in the notice.
It is worth mentioning that globalization has allowed all areas of work to expand through communication with the market on other continents. Therefore, for many job interviews, employers only select candidates whose CVs are enhanced by one or more languages. Many careers, in fact, require updating.
