Casa dos Ventos Expands Presence in Bahia by Acquiring Wind Power Project from Brennand. Project Expected to Come Online in 2029 and Strengthens Renewable Pipeline.
The wind energy sector in Brazil has gained a new chapter with the acquisition of a project located in northern Bahia. Casa dos Ventos completed the purchase of a developing project owned by the Brennand Group, strengthening its asset portfolio and expanding its renewable pipeline in the country.
The transaction was formalized through a purchase and sale agreement executed on October 17, 2025. The information is included in documents sent to the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade), which is responsible for analyzing acts of economic concentration in Brazil.
Although the deal does not require prior approval from the National Electricity Agency (Aneel), the future commercial operation of the project will still depend on obtaining a grant from the agency, as well as the concession or transfer of environmental licenses from the Bahia Institute of the Environment and Water Resources (Inema).

Project Still Under Development and Aiming for 2029
The acquired project is not yet operational. The expectation is that the operational launch will occur starting in 2029, as indicated in the process reviewed by Cade. Details such as installed capacity and transaction value have not been disclosed by the companies involved.
Even so, the move signals confidence in the long-term potential of wind energy, especially in regions already established as generation hubs. The project is located in the municipalities of Sento Sé and Campo Formoso, areas recognized for their wind intensity and consistency.
Both cities are part of one of the most strategic regions for wind development in the country, combining favorable natural resources with expanding electrical infrastructure.
Casa dos Ventos’ Strategy Strengthens Focus on Renewables
In a statement submitted to Cade, Casa dos Ventos emphasized that the acquisition aligns with its long-term strategic planning. The goal is to increase sustainable investments and strengthen its presence in the wind energy sector.
The company has been betting on geographical diversification and an increase in the number of projects under development. This move accompanies, above all, the growing demand from large consumers for clean energy, especially in the free energy market environment.
The interest in greenfield projects continues to be one of the company’s hallmarks. Casa dos Ventos has established itself in recent years as one of Brazil’s leading wind farm developers, operating from origination to construction and operation of assets.
The choice of Bahia as the destination for the new investment is not random. The state accounts for nearly half of the country’s installed wind power capacity, a result of favorable natural conditions and incentive policies adopted over the past decade.
With consistent winds and extensive available areas, the region continues to attract major developers. Additionally, the expansion of the transmission grid has been crucial in enabling new projects and ensuring the evacuation of generated energy.
Sento Sé and Campo Formoso, in particular, rank among the most sought-after municipalities for new ventures, due to the combination of technical potential and logistical infrastructure.
Brennand Adjusts Portfolio and Reallocates Capital
For Brennand Energia, the sale of the project aligns with the strategy of reorganizing the portfolio and optimizing capital allocation. In its communication to Cade, the group highlighted that the transaction follows the company’s business model.
Currently, Brennand operates ten small hydropower plants distributed across the country and ten wind farms in Bahia. Together, these assets total 527 megawatts of installed capacity.
The sale of the developing project does not compromise the company’s operational base. On the contrary, it opens space for redirecting investments to priority areas within the corporate strategy.
Despite a more competitive environment and price compression in the free market, the wind energy pipeline remains dynamic in Brazil. The expectation of reinforcements in the transmission network and the holding of new regulated auctions continue to stimulate interest from major players.
The transaction between Casa dos Ventos and Brennand demonstrates that assets still in the early stages continue to attract investors. The move also highlights confidence in the role of wind energy as a pillar of Brazil’s energy transition.
With the expectation of coming online in 2029, the new project in Bahia fits into a medium- to long-term horizon, aligned with decarbonization goals and the growing search for renewable sources in the national electrical system.
