The Recent Performance of the Chevrolet Onix Reignites Interest in the Hatch and Reinforces Its Recovery in the Market, Driven by Technical Adjustments, Warranty Expansion, and Diversity of Versions That Keep the Model Competitive.

The Chevrolet Onix has once again emerged among the main highlights of the Brazilian automotive market by registering 9,524 units sold in November, the best monthly result for the model this year.

In this performance, GM’s hatch achieved a prominent position among the best-selling passenger cars in the country, confirming an accumulated total of 71,861 licensed units between January and November 2025, a figure that confirms the gradual recovery after a period of sales below recent historical levels.

Onix Sales on the Rise

In the November overview, the Onix was once again competing directly for the top positions in the national ranking among passenger cars.

The volume of 9,524 registrations placed the hatch at a level close to its main direct rivals and in line with the best-selling models of the month, in a scenario where the Fiat Strada maintains overall leadership, combining passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

The performance in November was not an isolated point.

The total of over 71 thousand units throughout 2025 shows that the vehicle has been gaining traction in dealerships after a more discreet start to the year.

The Chevrolet Onix responds in the market with 9,524 sales in November, surpassing 71,000 for the year and reinforcing competitiveness with versions up to R$ 130,000.

Although it has not yet regained the absolute dominance observed in previous years, when it led the Brazilian market for long periods, the hatch is again among the models with the greatest presence on the streets and in the registration statistics.

Recovery in Year-to-Date Accumulation

With a total of 71,861 registrations between January and November, the Onix confirms a recovery trend compared to previous months, where sales fell short of the model’s potential.

The most recent data indicates that the model is already approaching the leaders in the annual accumulation, reducing the gap to direct competitors in the compact hatch segment and reinforcing the commercial relevance of the naturally aspirated 1.0 and 1.0 turbo range.

The trajectory throughout 2025 also helps explain the impact of the November results.

After facing resistance from part of the public due to the controversy surrounding the oil-bathed timing belt of the three-cylinder engines, the hatch underwent technical adjustments, after-sales actions, and communication changes that helped reduce rejection and restore consumer and dealer confidence.

One of the points that most affected the image of the Onix in recent years was the oil-bathed timing belt system used in the 1.0 and 1.0 turbo engines.

Instances of premature wear and high repair costs led owners to file complaints at workshops, social media, and consumer protection agencies, which ultimately pressured the manufacturer.

In response, Chevrolet implemented a combination of measures.

The automaker launched a post-sale campaign to reactivate the belt warranty up to 240,000 kilometers for units of the current generation produced since 2019, even for customers who did not maintain the complete service history at authorized networks, provided that the vehicle undergoes technical inspection and oil change within the defined criteria.

At the same time, the brand changed the supplier of the component: the belt is now produced by Dayco, using a new rubber formulation that promises greater durability, maintaining the warranty of up to 240,000 kilometers for the updated models.

This combination of technical change and expanded warranty was key for the hatch to regain sales momentum throughout 2025.

Engines 1.0 and Automatic Transmission

While the timing belt issue was being addressed, Chevrolet maintained its strategy of offering the Onix with two three-cylinder engine options.

In the entry-level versions, the model features a 1.0 naturally aspirated flex engine, always paired with a six-speed manual transmission, aimed at consumers prioritizing fuel economy and acquisition cost.

In the higher configurations, the hatch adopts the 1.0 turbo flex engine, which can be combined with either a manual or automatic six-speed transmission, enhancing its appeal for urban and highway use.

In addition to the mechanics, the current lineup offers safety features such as six airbags, traction and stability controls, and hill start assist in many versions, keeping the model competitive against rivals that have also undergone recent updates.

Multimedia systems with an 8-inch screen, wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and connected services remain available in mid-range and top-line versions.

Versions and Prices of the Onix

In the commercial field, the hatch lineup remains extensive, with different combinations of engines, transmissions, and content.

According to the price list for December 2025, the prices are as follows:

Onix LS 1.0 MT — R$ 99,990
Onix LS 1.0 Turbo MT — R$ 107,990
Onix LS 1.0 Turbo AT — R$ 112,990
Onix LT 1.0 Turbo AT — R$ 118,990
Onix LTZ 1.0 Turbo AT — R$ 123,990
Onix Premier 1.0 Turbo AT — R$ 129,990
Onix RS 1.0 Turbo AT — R$ 130,990

The Chevrolet Onix responds in the market with 9,524 sales in November, surpassing 71,000 for the year and reinforcing competitiveness with versions up to R$ 130,000.

These prices position the Onix in line with other compact cars that have migrated to price levels close to or above R$ 100,000 in versions with turbo engines and automatic transmissions.

The variety allows the model to cater to everyone from those looking for a more affordable 1.0 vehicle to consumers prioritizing a well-equipped compact hatch.

Scenario of Compact Hatches

With a reviewed timing belt, expanded warranty, updated engines, and versions reaching R$ 130,000, the Onix is back competing in a segment pressured by the expansion of compact SUVs.

After achieving the best monthly result of the year and an accumulated figure that places it back among the leaders, a new discussion emerges: for those choosing a car now, are the adjustments made by Chevrolet enough to leave the timing belt controversy a mere memory?

Nunca vi nessa vida borracha com óleo combinarem podem melhorar o que for mas continuará sendo correia de borracha e óleo, juntos não combinam
A função do óleo é lubrificar e a função da correia é trabalhar seca.
