China Is Preparing Another Engineering Feat for 2024: The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, a Mega Construction That Will Transform a 2-Hour Trip Into Just 30 Minutes! With a Length of 24 km, This Project Includes Tunnels, Artificial Islands, and Bridges, Standing Out as the Longest Undersea Tunnel in the World, Located 30 Meters Below the Ocean. Want to Know More?
Get Ready to Discover China’s Latest Mega Construction: The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor! This Gigantic Project, Located in the Xiang Estuary, Will Connect the Cities of Shenzhen and Zhongshan in Guangdong Province. With a Total Length of 24 km, This Engineering Marvel Impresses with a 17 km Sea Bridge, a 6.8 km Undersea Tunnel, and Two Artificial Islands.
The Major Highlight of This Construction Is the Submarine Tunnel, Which Will Extend More Than 30 Meters Below the Ocean, Becoming the Longest in the World with Two Lanes and Eight Lanes. Additionally, the Lingdingyang Bridge, Part of the Corridor, Will Have a Main Span of 1666 Meters, Setting New Records as the Highest Sea Suspension Bridge and the Longest Span in the World.
Why Is This Construction So Important?
The Xiang Estuary Region Is One of the Most Densely Populated and Economically Dynamic Areas in China. The Crossing Between the East and West Sides Has Always Been a Challenge, with Limited Options and Frequent Traffic Congestion. The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor Aims to Solve This Problem by Reducing Travel Time from 2 Hours to Just 30 Minutes. This Not Only Facilitates Transportation but Also Boosts Trade, Tourism, and Economic Integration in the Region.

Without a blueprint, without an engineer, and using scrap from the dump, a father spends 15 years building an 18-room castle for his daughter, featuring tram tracks, 13 fireplaces, and over 700 m², which may now be demolished.
The Construction of This Mega Project Began in 2016 and Involved Innovative Solutions and Cutting-Edge Technologies. The Undersea Tunnel Consists of 32 Immersed Tubes, Each Weighing Approximately 60,000 Tons, Transported 50 km to the Installation Site. To Position the Tubes on the Seabed with Precision, the Team Used a Satellite Positioning System and a Self-Propelled Ship Developed in China.
Completion of the Corridor in China in 2024
The Completion of the Corridor in 2024 Will Transform the Transportation Dynamics in the Greater Bay Area of China, Facilitating the Movement of People and Goods. This Promotes Economic Integration, Stimulating Trade and Tourism. Furthermore, the Corridor Is Part of a Larger Plan by China to Create a Mega City in the Greater Bay Area, Integrating Hong Kong, Macau, and Nine Cities in Guangdong Province into a Global Economic Hub.
With the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor, China Elevates Its Engineering and Infrastructure Standards to a New Level. This Mega Construction Not Only Makes Life Easier for Residents but Also Drives Economic Development and Sets New World Records.
