With an eye on the technological movement driven by the pandemic, Alura, the largest online course platform in Brazil, will host Data Week with the theme Data Science: Today and Tomorrow – from October 18 to 25. There will be six live meetings totally free for those who want to deepen their understanding of the major debates of today in this universe of digital information. Candidates from all over the country can participate!

When we research the future of the job market, the Data Science profession ranks first in the list of the 20 most promising careers by 2025, according to a report released by the World Economic Forum. A specialist in this area gathers a large volume of information and interprets it to guide decisions and create opportunities based on people’s behavior.

According to Alura’s CEO, Paulo Silveira, Data Science is important for the accuracy of results. “Business intelligence is something that companies need, whether with data, reports, or whatever is necessary for leadership to have support for decision-making without having to solve blind or by intuition. Data Science raises crucial information for the business, mining data. I see a lot of people entering this field,” he said.

The head of education at Alura, Guilherme Silveira, explains what the profile of a Data Science professional looks like and details the daily routine of the role. “We have to study various areas within this (umbrella of data science), because our role is to test models, discover what is wrong, research new things being done, and encourage people to use data to make decisions,” he comments.

The online content will be delivered by 15 specialists who will share practical experiences to expand knowledge in Data Science. Those who participate in the live sessions will be able to interact with expert guests in Data Science, as well as understand what skills are needed for the professional profile that the market demands.

Every day will feature a different live session, and participants will have content throughout the week. The activities will begin on Monday, the 18th, at 6:30 PM (Brasília time), with a break on the weekend and ending on October 25.
