Brazil Shines With Solar Energy, But Panel Security Is a Warning

The Solar Brightness In Numbers

Brazil, with its vast territorial extension and ideal climatic conditions, has made history in the world of renewable energy. It is now the 8th largest producer of photovoltaic energy worldwide, according to the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar). In numbers, as of July 2023, the country generated an impressive 32.6 GW of solar energy. This represented an increase of 25.3 GW in 2022, establishing solar as Brazil’s second main energy source.

The past decade has revealed massive investment of over R$ 159.1 billion in the sector. This amount leveraged around 979.7 thousand new jobs and brought to public coffers more than R$ 45.5 billion in taxes. And nature is grateful: more than 41 million tons of CO2 have been prevented from being released into the environment.

The Shadow Of Insecurity

However, alongside the growth of this energy source, challenges are also increasing. One in particular has kept many entrepreneurs awake at night: the security of photovoltaic panels. With the rising demand and appreciation of the sector, cases of theft and burglary related to these equipment have intensified. Alarming headlines about solar panel thefts constantly emerge, causing significant losses. In cities like Conceição das Alagoas and Aguaí, the damages have already surpassed the million mark.

In this scenario, ensuring the protection of these panels has become a crucial step to ensure they operate efficiently and securely. And the solution may lie in adequate fencing, which not only provides security but also enhances the performance of these systems.

The Guardians Of Solar Panels

Fencing, more than physical barriers, are shields of protection for solar energy generation areas. They prevent invasions, whether by animals or intruders, and minimize the risks of theft or vandalism. When exposed, the panels face numerous risks. Whether electrical, which can cause serious accidents, or damage caused by animals that compromise system efficiency. Ensuring the integrity of photovoltaic panels with adequate fencing can increase their longevity and, consequently, improve the return on investment made.

When planning a fence, several considerations should be made. The size of the area, the terrain characteristics, and the surrounding flow are key points. Today, the market offers a wide range of solutions capable of adapting to the specificities of each project. For example, in high-risk areas, reinforced security screens and motion sensors can be the ideal allies.

In summary, the security of solar panels is vital. And adopting adequate fencing is a wise investment, promoting the continuity of clean energy generation. In this context, prioritizing security is undeniably a correct decision.
