Approved Participants in the Competition Will Be Able to Work in Ports of Espírito Santo, with Salaries That Can Exceed 15 Thousand Reais
Registrations are open for the selection process of the competition promoted by the Labor Management Agency of Espírito Santo (Ogmo ES). The 600 available positions are for those who wish to work at a port in the state, with 150 of them being immediate and the remaining 450 for a reserve list. Participants who pass the competition will be able to work in Greater Vitória or in Aracruz. According to Ivone Goldner, educational director of the Center for Personal Development (CEP), this is a great opportunity to enter the job market or return to it.

Registrations for This Competition in Espírito Santo
To apply for the position of port worker, it is necessary to have completed high school and a type B driver’s license (for cars). Once the requirements are met, registrations are made on the website of the Institute of Development and Training, the company responsible for the selection of the competition, until 02/20/2022. The registration fee is R$ 142, and payment can be made via PIX, credit card, or bank slip.
Duties of the Casual Port Worker

- Movement of goods within the port facilities, including receiving, checking, internal transportation, opening volumes for customs verification, handling, preparation, and delivery, as well as loading and unloading of vessels;
- Movement of goods in the holds or decks of major or auxiliary vessels, as well as transshipment, preparation, stowing, and stripping;
- Counting of load volumes, noting their characteristics, origin or destination, checking the condition of goods, assisting in weighing, checking manifests, and other tasks related to loading and unloading operations at ports;
- Repair and restoration of damaged packaging, repackaging, marking, stamping, labeling;
- Monitoring the entry and exit of people on board vessels docked at the port, as well as the movement of goods in portal cranes, ramps, holds, decks, platforms, and other areas of the vessel.
Additionally, another characteristic of the position offered by the competition in Espírito Santo is that the salaries of port professionals are not always the same, as they vary according to the values estimated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT), referring to a 6-hour daily shift. According to the table, workers earn between R$ 259.65 to R$ 406.14 daily. Another important point is that remuneration will be provided in two ways: according to achieved productivity, or by daily salary in situations of attendance, effective assignment, and when production value does not reach the minimum amount.
Regarding remuneration, Ivone comments: “The earning prospects compensate for the numerous duties, as the multifunctional casual port worker – registered, with demand – and there always is –, can initially earn over R$ 5,000 monthly and later reach earnings exceeding R$ 15,000 monthly.”
As for the selection process, objective tests will be applied on March 13, covering content in Portuguese Language, Mathematics, English Language, and Information Technology. There will also be a Physical Aptitude Test, psychological evaluation, medical exam, and two months of training.
Employment Link After the Competition
After passing all phases of the competition, the candidate will be registered with Ogmo as a casual port worker and will be called to work at the Port in Vitória or in Aracruz, both in Espírito Santo. Since there is a specific legal regime for employees in this position, they do not have an employment relationship.
