Energy Innovation: Companies Integrate and Boost Bunker Exports While Strengthening the Domestic Market.
In a global scenario where exports and the energy sector are growing exponentially, Acelen, the leading bunker-producing refinery in Brazil, and Bunker One, renowned in the maritime fuel trade, celebrate a strategic partnership. The focus? To solidify a unique supply operation at external anchorage in the country.
Redefining Supply
The innovation will be implemented at the Port of Itaqui, located in the Bay of São Marcos (MA), a key region for global trade, especially in iron and soybean exports. This new supply point is a game changer in serving various vessels and routes, including connections between Europe and the United States.
The operation consists of supplying ships directly from a tanker, eliminating the need for internal anchorage. This translates into savings in time and money, as ships can be refueled while waiting for their turn to operate internally. The efficiency of the system allows for up to two vessels to be served daily.

China could impose a quarantine on Taiwan without firing a shot, using the coast guard and inspections to force submission, blocking trade, raising insurance costs, and leaving the U.S. divided between reacting or accepting.

Millions of Brazilians over 60 years old do not know that they need a second document in addition to their ID to use exclusive parking spaces, and the infraction for not carrying it is considered very serious, with fines and vehicle towing.

Paraíba shoots up and has the most expensive square meter in the Northeast, and the increase in labor puts the region at the center of pressure, with Bahia recording the highest monthly increase in Brazil in construction.
“This alliance is not just an expansion of our presence, but the beginning of a promising partnership that could revolutionize the shipping industry in Latin America”, shares Flavio Ribeiro, CEO of Bunker One Brazil.
Enhancing the Port of Itaqui
With an average growth of 9% per year over the last five years, the Port of Itaqui is about to see its capacity enhanced with the offering of this new supply method. According to Cristiano da Costa from Acelen, the partnership increases Brazil’s competitiveness as a supply hub.
The new approach not only optimizes waiting time but also reduces costs and fees. For long-haul and cabotage vessels, the option is even more advantageous, as they can choose to refuel exclusively on site, as explained by Fillippe Fernandez from Bunker One Brazil.
Ensuring excellence in practices, the operation will be managed by Nova Offshore, part of Bunker One. The company has chartered a highly equipped tanker, with a crew capable of executing this type of supply with maximum safety.
Acelen and Bunker One also conducted two in-depth studies on operations at Itaqui, considering meteorological and oceanic variables to ensure a top-tier supply standard.
