British oil company BP, after investing BRL 1,47 billion in acquisitions, will start drilling in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin
According to statements by the president of the British oil company BP, the company intends to start its first exploratory campaign in the pre-salt layer, as an operator, between 2021 and 2022.
After spending the last two years acquiring six exploratory blocks in the Campos and Santos basins, four of which are within the pre-salt polygon, where it invested around R$1,47 billion in signature bonuses, the company plans to begin drilling in Pau Brasil, in the Santos Basin.

Present in the country since the 1970s, with more than 50 years of activities in the energy sector in Brazil, it now has 21 concessions in four different Brazilian geological basins, located on land and sea, being one of the international companies with the largest portfolio of exploration in deep waters in the country.

BP operates in the production of lubricants (Castrol) and biofuels (BP Biocombustíveis), exploration and production of oil and natural gas (BP Energy), distribution of marine fuels (BP Marine/NFX) and aviation (Air BP),
The company employs around 7 people in its various business units and operates in 15 states (Amapá, Bahia, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Santa Catarina, São Paulo) and in the Federal District.
