Northeast Has Only Two States Where Gasoline Prices Are Still Below R$ 6
The price of gasoline is high across the country, reaching historical values and increasingly affecting the wallets of the Brazilian population. For example, last year, R$ 100 bought 24 liters of fuel, whereas in August 2021, the same amount of money buys only 17 liters of fuel.
According to the National Agency of Petroleum (ANP), the average price of gasoline rose for the 8th consecutive week in Brazil, reaching an average price of R$ 6 nationwide. The previous week, the average price of gasoline was R$ 6.076, and this week it increased to R$ 6.092.
Gasoline Prices in the Northeast
All regions of Brazil are suffering from rising fuel prices; however, the Northeast is one of the most affected. According to research released by the ANP, National Agency of Petroleum, of the 9 states, Paraíba has the lowest price per liter. At the same time, Piauí has the highest price per liter in the Northeast.

The research also showed that the cheapest gasoline in the Northeast is in Paraíba, with an average price of R$ 5.943 per liter. The second cheapest gasoline is in the Ceará, with R$ 5,973 on average. These are the only two states that still have an average gasoline price below R$ 6.

Fuel was one of the contributors to the surge in inflation in 2021. With a rise of 31.09% just this year, the prices of gasoline and diesel are drastically affecting the purchasing power of Brazilian families.
