Alpha School Uses Artificial Intelligence in Education, with 2-Hour Classes Per Day and Tuition Starting at R$ 18 Thousand in the USA.

A private school in the United States is challenging the traditional educational model by replacing teachers with artificial intelligence (AI) and reducing the core subject hours to just two hours a day.

Alpha School, which charges tuition starting at R$ 18 thousand, bets on an innovative method that promises personalization and life skills development.

How Does Alpha School Work and Why Is It Gaining Attention?

Alpha School is a private institution expanding its educational model across different states in the United States, including Texas, Florida, Arizona, and California. Recently, it announced plans to open a branch in New York.

The school’s differentiator is the intensive use of artificial intelligence to customize learning. Instead of traditional teachers, Alpha School relies on “learning guides,” professionals focused on motivating and emotionally supporting students.

These guides use reports provided by AI to monitor performance and direct activities that develop skills such as leadership, communication, and financial management.

Why Only 2 Hours of Class Per Day?

At Alpha School, core subjects—such as math, reading, and science—take up only two hours in the morning, between 9 AM and 11 AM.

The rest of the day is devoted to hands-on workshops, collaborative projects, and activities aimed at socialization, reducing screen exposure.

According to the institution, AI allows for identifying each student’s difficulties and accelerating their individual progress, ensuring complete mastery of content in less time.

In this way, the school believes it can balance academic teaching and personal development.

How Much Does It Cost to Study at Alpha School?

The investment is high: tuition reaches US$ 40,000 (approximately R$ 217,000), equivalent to about R$ 18,000 per month. This amount covers all activities, including trips, materials, and events.

To start the process, it is necessary to fill out a form, pay an application fee of US$ 100, and participate in an immersion day called “Shadow Day.”

After this step, the Alpha School team assesses the academic goals of the family and, if approved, the student secures admission with a non-refundable deposit of US$ 1,000.

What Replaces Traditional Teachers?

Instead of licensed educators, the school relies on “learning guides” who act as motivational mentors.

These professionals, according to Alpha School, are selected for their experience in areas such as technology and startups, as well as their ability to connect with students.

They do not teach content but organize workshops and encourage engagement.

However, the absence of teachers raises criticisms regarding the pedagogical quality of the model, as the guides do not need to have an education degree.

What Are the Criticisms of Alpha School’s Model?

Despite the innovative proposal, the method faces resistance in the United States. Experts point to potential risks, such as:

Excessive time in front of screens, even with in-person activities;

Reduction of traditional subject hours to just 2 hours a day;

Limited training of guides, who do not require a teaching degree;

Dependence on external rewards, which could hinder critical thinking;

Concerns about inclusion and diversity.

Furthermore, some states have already blocked similar models for not meeting educational standards, as happened in Pennsylvania.

Is Personalized Education the Future?

Alpha School represents a growing trend of using artificial intelligence in education, but experts warn that technology cannot completely replace human interaction and pedagogical experience.

The challenge is to find a balance between innovation, effective learning, and socio-emotional development.
