New Feature Allows You to Choose Time Windows and Accelerates the Arrival of High-Demand Items in Over 30 Categories in the 2 Largest Markets in the Country.

Amazon has implemented a new strategy for Christmas and started offering delivery in up to 3 hours for customers in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

The option was tested during Black Friday and now expands the speed options, with customers able to choose time windows to receive their orders on the same day.

What Happened and Why It Caught Attention

The company began promoting delivery in up to 3 hours as part of its strategy to speed up shipments in the largest cities where it has logistical operations.

The aim is to reduce the time between purchase and receipt, maintaining the possibility of same-day delivery with short windows of up to 3 hours.

The service targets high-demand products, especially during peak periods like Black Friday and Christmas.

Which Items Are Included in Delivery in Up to 3 Hours

The fast delivery serves items considered to be of high demand, spread across more than 30 categories.

Examples include food, cleaning products, office supplies, toys, and seasonal items.

The selection prioritizes goods with high turnover and ready availability for dispatch in the serviced areas.

What Changes in Practice for Consumers in Rio and São Paulo

Those shopping in these two capitals now have another deadline option, with the chance to receive their orders in just a few hours.

The choice of time windows gives more control over delivery and helps fit receipt into daily routines.

This new feature adds to the network that already delivers in up to 2 days in Brazil and to same-day delivery options in cities with logistical infrastructure.

How the Same-Day Shipping Expansion Works

Same-day delivery has progressed over the year and is now available in seven cities.

In addition to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, the service is also present in Porto Alegre, Brasília, Fortaleza, Recife, and Belo Horizonte.

The company is also exploring alternatives such as pickup points and the option to choose a day of the week for concentration of deliveries.

Logistical Structure and Investments That Sustain Speed

Amazon has a total of 250 logistical points in Brazil, with around 100 set to open in 2025.

This increase in infrastructure is seen as crucial for enabling shorter deadlines and more delivery options.

In 2024, the company invested R$ 13.6 billion in Brazil, indicating that this level may be matched or exceeded this year.

Reinforcement of Workforce During Peak Season

The growth of infrastructure is also evident in operations during high-demand dates.

In the last quarter of this year, 13,000 temporary workers were hired to strengthen activities during the period from Black Friday to Christmas.

This figure represents double the number hired in 2024, with no estimate on how many may be retained after the peak season.

How Much Does Delivery in Up to 3 Hours Cost and Who Is Eligible

For Prime customers, delivery in up to 3 hours is free on purchases starting from R$ 19.

There are exceptions for grocery and book products, where the minimum is R$ 79.

Below these amounts, the shipping fee is R$ 8.90 for Prime members and R$ 10.90 for non-subscribers.

Delivery in up to 3 hours becomes another option for those shopping in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, focusing on high-demand items and same-day delivery with windows chosen by the customer.

With the expansion of the logistics network and reinforcement of operations during peak season, the company aims to accelerate deadlines and provide more control over receipt, especially in the final stretch of Christmas.
