Décio Oddone, General Director of ANP, Confirmed the Oil Auction Calendar for This Year and Stated That There Is Demand for Such a Decision

ANP has just maintained the oil auction calendar for this year. The General Director of ANP, Décio Oddone, denied that there are discussions to postpone one of the auctions, as he suggested in an oil and gas industry seminar last month.
According to Oddone, there is demand for such a decision, and the statement was made last Friday (07/06) after a meeting with Paulo Guedes and members of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (Cebri) in Rio.

At the time of the last statement, Oddone was concerned about overwhelming the analysis capacity of the operators with three large auctions in a short period of time.

The short time frame between auctions could even be detrimental to Petrobras itself, as operators might offer less attractive prices due to the number of fields being offered almost simultaneously.

However, the new statement from the ANP director dispels these rumors and practically guarantees the realization, in the second half of the year, of the oil auctions for the 16th round of concession of post-salt areas on October 10, for the surplus of onerous assignment on October 28, and for the sixth sharing round of pre-salt on November 7.

Regarding the meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Oddone stated that there were no updates and that the committee created by the government to study the opening of the gas market will operate until June and will soon present its suggestions.

One of the controversial topics regarding the opening of the gas market is the change in regulations, which was one of the subjects discussed with Paulo Guedes, but the ANP director did not provide further details.
