The Microsoft Job Openings Are For Various Areas Of Activity And Are Offered After A Million-Dollar Purchase Destined For A Cable Factory
Microsoft announced last Friday, the 9th, the purchase of Lumenisity, a British startup factory that develops Hollow Core Fiber (HCF) cables mainly for data centers and ISPs, according to the CanalTech website, and is also offering various job openings in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Fortaleza.
According to Microsoft, the purchase of the new factory, details of which have not been disclosed, “will expand [its] capacity to further optimize its global infrastructure” and “will serve Microsoft’s cloud platform and meet customers with stringent latency and security.”
HCF cables essentially combine optical fiber and coaxial cable. They have existed since the 1990s, but what Lumenisity has is a unique design with a central air-filled channel surrounded by a ring of glass tubes. The idea is that light can travel faster through air than through glass.

The Technology Present In The New Cable Factory
In a test conducted with Comcast in April, a single strand of Lumenisity HCF was reportedly able to provide traffic rates ranging from 10 Gbps to 400 Gbps.
“HCF can provide benefits across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and government,” wrote Girish Bablani, CVP of the Azure Core business of Microsoft, in a blog post.
“For the public sector, HCF can provide enhanced security and intrusion detection for federal and local governments around the world. And with the rise of the digital economy, HCF can assist international financial institutions seeking fast, secure transactions across a wide geographic area.”
