Freight train loaded with new Ford cars derailed in the United States. According to The Drive, citing Missouri police, the incident occurred last week. The 44-car train was transporting over 400 Ford F-150 trucks, as well as Ford Transit vans, and derailed for unknown reasons. None of the people were injured, unlike the cars which suffered total loss and will have to be destroyed.

It is believed that the train was transporting vehicles from a Ford assembly plant in Kansas, Klycomo, Missouri. The new F-150 and Transit had arrived at the brand’s dealerships and, therefore, to the customers who paid for the cars in advance. Apparently, they will now return to the factory, but not for repairs. Ford will probably want to reuse scarce semiconductors and other expensive parts.
As for the scene, it will take at least a few days to clear the four dozen crushed cars and hundreds of trucks. This forecast was given by a railroad worker to the local newspaper Lake Gazette.

The train accident is far from the only problem that Ford has faced in recent years with production and delivery difficulties. Due to the global chip shortage that followed the lockdown, over 60,000 unfinished vehicles were stranded, forcing Ford to suspend operations in July and June at many of its plants.
Earlier, the company announced that it had become unprofitable to supply dealers with many cars in various configurations – this was caused by the shortage of parts that are critical for automotive electronics. Instead, Ford is considering customized versions that will help unload warehouses and improve financial results. The brand has not yet commented on the train accident.
Ford Motor Unloads 450 Cars At The Port In ES And Will Bring 30,000 Vehicles To Brazil Produced In Factories Abroad
After ceasing vehicle production and closing its factories in Brazil, Ford Motor now imports vehicles through the Port of Vitória. Last week, 450 cars were unloaded, which arrived in the State by the ship Torrens. It is estimated that approximately 30,000 cars will arrive in Brazil through Espírito Santo each year.
On May 18, the first vehicles from the American automaker arrived at the port of Vitória. Previously, Ford brought its cars through Baixada Santista and Bahia.
Now, the Port Terminal of Vila Velha (ES) will be the only entry point for Ford in Brazil. According to Log-In Logística, the company responsible for the operation, the complex will receive approximately 28,000 to 30,000 cars from the American company annually.
The delivery was attended by Governor Renato Casagrande, who also got to know the new vehicle storage and handling yard operated by LogIN TVV within the Port of Vitória.
“We came to monitor and celebrate the importance of importing Ford vehicles in Espírito Santo. There will be about 30,000 vehicles a year, imported here by the State added to other brands that are already imported here. This strengthens the economy of Espírito Santo, Vila Velha, and also Cariacica. The more capacity to invest, the more capacity to create opportunities for Espírito Santo residents,” he highlighted.
After Volkswagen, Honda, Audi, Volvo, And Renault, Ford Motor Chief Announces The Cessation Of Production Of Gasoline And Diesel Combustion Engines To Focus On Electric Cars, But Does Not Give A Date
After ceasing vehicle production and exiting the country, the head of Ford Motor in the Americas, Kumar Galhotra, stated that the automaker has full electrification on its radar. The statement aligns with automotive industry giants like Volkswagen, Honda, Volvo, and Renault, who also recently announced that they have stopped or will stop the development and production of gasoline and diesel combustion engines to invest in the manufacture of electric cars.
The American automaker confirmed to the market that while it is still far from knowing exactly when, Ford will become a fully electric brand in the future and will set aside combustion engines to comply with new carbon emission standards.
Galhotra said: “I can easily see a point where we would say: ‘This is the date when we would be fully electrified.’” He added: “We are certainly working towards that.”
Is One Of The Most Important Auto Manufacturers In The World Having Problems?
Not yet. Despite facing delays related to the pandemic and the fire at the Renesas chip supplier, Ford made a profit in the last quarter. The Ford F-150, Transit vans, Bronco, Expedition, and more remain strong and popular.
But the profit is mainly attributed to cost-cutting measures and the increase in transaction prices in the expanding automotive market. Ford secured US$ 26.8 billion, which is US$ 3 billion above previous forecasts.
This is unfortunate for consumers, however. The average price of Ford vehicles in the US markets has risen to US$ 47,961. This is a 6.3% increase compared to the last quarter. Additionally, a train accident will not help prices return to normal.
As chip suppliers like the Renesas factory ramp up operations, they will continue working to stabilize supply shortages. This provides a positive outlook for dealers and buyers as more inventory is expected to arrive.
Just Like The Iconic Volkswagen Kombi, New Legislation Will Make The Uno, Doblo, And Grand Siena From Fiat Disappear This Year

According to journalist Fernando Calmon, who writes for the AutoPapo Portal, multi-national Fiat will have to cease production of the Uno, Doblo, and Grand Siena. Starting in January 2022, a new phase of Proconve, L-7, will come into effect and the three models from the Italian automaker will disappear due to the new environmental emission requirements, just as happened in 2014 with the iconic Volkswagen Kombi due to the requirement for airbags and ABS brakes.
According to Calmon, the Fiat factory does not believe it is worth investing in new tanks and fuel systems for these cars to meet the new evaporation limits from gasoline and ethanol tanks.
