The State of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) Already Shows Significant Decrease in Gasoline Prices After Flirting With Nearly R$ 8 Between March and June 2022. Now, the Capital, Natal, Already Has Stations Without the Shell and Petrobras BR Branding Charging R$ 4.99.

The decrease in gasoline prices in Rio Grande do Norte (RN) occurred after Petrobras announced adjustments at the end of July, where prices would be reduced by at least R$ 0.18 per liter sold at the refineries. However, analysts claim that from now on, it is up to the fuel distribution companies to pass on these values.

Economists argue that the drop in the price of gasoline per liter happened to control the Inflationary Scenario that may exist after the presidential elections, which will take place in October and will involve Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro, one extreme left candidate and one right-wing candidate, respectively.

However, the state-owned Petrobras argues that the adjustments being applied consistently at the refineries in recent months are due to the attempt to maintain internal and national prices.
