Uno, Doblo and Grand Siena Will Be Manufactured Only Until the End of 2021. New Legislation Drops the Three Models from Fiat, Just Like What Happened in 2014 with the Volkswagen Kombi
According to journalist Fernando Calmon, who is a columnist for Portal AutoPapo, the multinational Fiat will have to cease production of the Uno, Doblo, and Grand Siena. This is because, starting in January 2022, a new phase of Proconve, the L-7, will come into effect, and the three models from the Italian automaker will disappear due to the new emission requirements of environmental control, just like what happened in 2014, with the iconic Volkswagen Kombi, due to the requirement for airbags and ABS brakes.

Fiat, the First Ethanol Car Manufacturer, Abandons Production of the 1.3 Turbo Ethanol Engine in Brazil
Neither the history of having the world’s first ethanol car nor the future were able to motivate Fiat to continue the development of the E4 engine, an ethanol version of the 1.3 GSE Turbo engine that is debuting now in Brazil with the Fiat Toro 2022.

The ethanol-powered 1.3 GSE Turbo engine, announced two years ago along with the investment of R$ 500 million to produce the new family of turbo engines (which also includes the 1.0 GSE Turbo that will debut in Project 363) in Brazil, the so-called E4 engine, would be focused on high energy efficiency in the combustion of the vegetable fuel.
Ethanol used to be a much cheaper alternative – compared to gasoline prices – and could ensure the survival of combustion engines in the face of the current race of electric car manufacturers.
After Chevrolet, Ford, and Volkswagen, the Multinational Fiat Suspends Vehicle Production at Its Factory and Places 1,900 Employees on Collective Vacation
Following the departure of Ford from Brazil, the global supply crisis, and the pandemic, which caused automakers such as Chevrolet, Honda, Audi (Volkswagen), Scania, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz, Renault, and Nissan to suspend vehicle production, the crisis has reached Fiat, and the automotive industry in the country may be on the verge of collapse.
Fiat did not disclose the volume of vehicles that will no longer be produced, nor the most affected models during this stoppage. In March, the automaker also had to halt production for the same reason.
The multinationals Chevrolet, Volkswagen, and Fiat consider the situation a suspension and not a definitive cessation of production in Brazil.
