Cold Shower? Learn a Quick Trick with a Heater to Warm Up the Bathroom and Improve the Temperature of the Electric Shower This Winter!

The idea is simple: turn on an electric heater in the bathroom about 30 minutes before showering. This way, the environment warms up, helping to raise the temperature of the area and making the shower experience much more pleasant, even if the electric shower isn’t heating as much as you’d like.

This trick works with compact devices, such as fan heaters or halogen heaters, which can quickly and safely heat the bathroom. Below, see the step-by-step guide to apply this tip:

  1. Choose a compact electric heater, preferably with a power close to 1,500 W;
  2. Place the heater in a safe location, away from water and on a dry, stable surface;
  3. Turn on the device 30 minutes before your shower to warm up the area;
  4. Turn off the heater immediately before entering the bathroom to take a shower, avoiding any risk.

Fan Heater and Halogen Heater: Which is the Best Option?

There are two types of electric heaters recommended for this trick.

Fan Heater:
This device has an electric resistance and a fan that quickly circulates hot air, functioning like a “hairdryer” for the space. With a power of about 1,500 W, it can raise the bathroom temperature in 15 to 20 minutes, ensuring a more comfortable space for showering.

Halogen Heater (Radiant):
Quieter and safer, this type of heater works with radiant heat, directly warming the body and objects. It typically has a lower power, around 800 W, but is efficient for small bathrooms. Additionally, it features sensors that automatically turn off the device in case of tipping, enhancing safety.

Savings: The Electric Heater Won’t Burden Your Electricity Bill

A common question is whether this method significantly increases electricity consumption. The good news is that 30 minutes of use of a compact heater consumes little energy and generates a low cost on your electricity bill.

For example, a 1,500 W fan heater running for half an hour consumes about 0.75 kWh. Considering the average rates in the colder regions of the country (São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul), the expense is around R$ 0.43 to R$ 0.49 per shower.

In other words, less than fifty cents for a much more comfortable shower.

Essential Precautions When Using the Heater in the Bathroom

To ensure safety, follow some important guidelines:

  • Never turn on the heater with the shower door open or close to water splashes;
  • Place the device on a stable surface and away from wet floors;
  • Prefer models with safety certifications, such as a protective grill on the fan heater and an anti-tipping base on the halogen;
  • Turn off the heater before showering and maintain minimal ventilation to avoid humidity buildup.

Why is this Trick Effective?

Small bathrooms (about 4 m²) heat up quickly with a powerful fan heater, creating a comfortable environment that helps the electric shower maintain a more stable temperature. In the case of the halogen heater, the radiant heat is even more directed, enhancing the feeling of thermal comfort.

Thus, even on cold days, you can enjoy a warm shower without needing to replace the showerhead or make expensive renovations.
