Delays In The 777X Schedule Put Boeing Under Pressure

If on one hand the Boeing 777X impresses with its engineering and ambition, on the other hand, project delays raise concerns.

Officially announced in 2013, the aircraft had an initial debut forecast for 2020. However, regulatory issues, failures during testing, and changes in certification processes pushed its entry into operation to 2026 — unless further delays occur.

These delays place Boeing in a delicate position, especially at a time when its image is already facing wear and tear after the issues with the 737 MAX models. Each month of waiting represents lost opportunities in a market that continues to grow, especially in Asia and the Middle East.

Airbus Advances While Boeing Tries To Recover Ground With The 777X

While Boeing deals with its schedules, Airbus advances. The A350-1000, the main competitor of the 777X, is already in operation with dozens of airlines around the world. And the European manufacturer has been expanding its presence in the world’s largest market: China. According to the South China Morning Post, Airbus is close to closing a contract for up to 500 aircraft — a strategic move that could solidify its leadership for years.

In this context, the 777X is more than just a modern aircraft: it is Boeing’s attempt to reclaim space in a segment it once dominated for decades. The mission is not simple, but the aircraft seems to have the right tools — as long as it arrives on time.
