Irregular Drone Blocks Aerial Operation and Compromises Rescue in Balneário Coroados
A man was arrested in Guaratuba, on the coast of Paraná, after directly interfering in a rescue operation responding to a child drowning victim. The incident occurred in Balneário Coroados and mobilized teams from the Fire Department, Military Police, and the Arcanjo helicopter.
The helicopter landed on the sand strip to allow the rescuers to provide emergency care. Meanwhile, the teams quickly secured the area to ensure total safety during the procedure.
However, a man decided to fly over the site with a drone and began recording the scene. The action put the aircraft at immediate risk.

The Aeronauts’ Union warns that the Brazilian aviation system is heading for an unprecedented collapse and points to the increase in flights with foreign crews in the Amazon, the deadlock over fatigue, and the stalling of special retirement as threats to air safety and sovereignty.
When the helicopter attempted to take off again, the pilots identified the presence of the drone in the airspace and had to abort the takeoff. The teams requested that the operator remove the equipment from the area. Nevertheless, he ignored the instructions from the Fire Department and Military Police.
Police Identify Operator and Arrest for Endangering Aerial Transport
In light of the resistance, the Military Police located the drone’s operator and arrested him in the act for endangering air transport security. Additionally, the police confiscated the equipment used in the action.
The PM found that the man did not have authorization to operate the flight and also did not have the drone registered with the competent authorities. In other words, he was operating the equipment completely irregularly.
According to the corporation, any unauthorized object in the airspace can cause collisions with propellers or engines, compromising the stability of the aircraft and putting crew and victims at risk.
While the rescuers were providing care to the child drowning victim, the helicopter remained unable to take off. The interference increased the risk at an extremely delicate moment.
Disorderly Use of Drones in Rescue Areas Raises Alarm on the Coast of Paraná
The episode reinforces an important alert: drones are not allowed to fly over emergency areas, especially when they involve rescue operations with aircraft such as the Arcanjo helicopter.
The information was disclosed by “RIC Mais,” which highlighted the swift action of the Military Police and the Fire Department in the case that occurred in Guaratuba.
Furthermore, the authorities remind that Brazilian legislation requires registration and authorization for drone flights, especially in sensitive zones. In rescue operations, any interference compromises time, safety, and effectiveness.
Technology Can Help in Various Situations. However, when someone uses the equipment irresponsibly, it turns a tool into a real threat.
In this specific case, the irregular use of the drone delayed the aerial operation and resulted in the operator’s arrest.
Do you believe that the penalties for those who interfere in rescue operations should be more severe?
