Brazil 1970 Elected The Best Team In History In FourFourTwo Football Ranking; Santos Pele Also Appears In The Top 10.

The legendary national team Brazil 1970 was named the best team in football history in a new football ranking released by the traditional English magazine FourFourTwo ranking.

The publication brought together historic teams from around the world and placed the World Cup champion team from Mexico at the top of the list.

The survey also highlighted Santos Pele, who appeared among the ten greatest teams in football history.

Thus, the choice was announced by the British magazine specialized in football, recognized internationally for its analyses and historical retrospectives.

According to the FourFourTwo ranking, the Brazilian national team of 1970 revolutionized the sport by combining individual talent, offensive creativity, and a playing style that became associated with the so-called “beautiful game.”

Moreover, the survey evaluates the impact of teams on world football, considering titles, technical quality, and tactical influence over the decades.

Brazil 1970 Leads Historical Football Ranking

At the top of the football ranking, the team Brazil 1970 was remembered for the rare combination of talent and spectacle on the field.

Thus, the team led by Mario Zagallo won the 1970 World Cup with remarkable performances and a squad full of stars.

Notable players from that era included Pelé, Tostão, Jairzinho, Gérson, Rivellino, and Carlos Alberto Torres.

Therefore, for the magazine, the presence of so many creative players on the same team helped redefine how football was played.

“Pelé was in his prime on a team of stars, alongside Tostão in attack, with Roberto Rivellino and Jairzinho providing ammunition from the flanks,” highlights the publication.

The FourFourTwo ranking also emphasizes that, despite some defensive limitations, the Brazilian team left a deep mark on the sport.

“The text also points out that, although the team had issues – ‘the defense was not the best’, it transformed the way football was perceived and played worldwide, helping to coin the idea of ‘the beautiful game’.”

The Beautiful Game Marked The Best Team In History

Thus, the Brazilian national team’s campaign in 1970 was marked by moments that have definitively entered the history of world football.

Among them is the World Cup final against Italy, won 4-1.

During this match, an individual play by midfielder Clodoaldo became a symbol of that team’s creativity.

“The defense was not the best, conceding goals against everyone except England. Even so, midfielder Clodoaldo dribbled past four Italians during a final that entered history as a representation of the beautiful game, prioritizing creative attack over astute defense,” the ranking argues.

Another iconic moment was Carlos Alberto Torres’ goal in the final, considered one of the most beautiful in World Cup history.

According to the magazine, the impact of that team transcended generations.

Guardiola’s Barcelona Appears Among The Greatest In The Football Ranking

Besides Brazil 1970, another highlight from the football ranking of the magazine was the Barcelona team led by Pep Guardiola from 2008 to 2011.

Thus, the Spanish team ranked third on the list, only behind Milan from 1987 to 1991.

The Catalan team made its mark with the playing style known as tiki-taka, based on quick passing and ball possession dominance.

“In 50 years, when most of us will be eating through straws, we will die happy having seen one of the greatest teams of all time playing at the peak of their celestial talent,” the text states.

The FourFourTwo ranking also explains how this style changed modern football.

“By introducing tiki-taka – originally conceived as an insult – into the football lexicon, they rewrote the rules of the world’s most popular sport in their own image, perfectly shaped in 4-3-3.

The Potion Game penetrated almost every corner of football: it was unstoppable.”

Santos Pele Enters The Top 10 Of The Greatest Teams In History

Another Brazilian representative remembered by the magazine was Santos Pele, which dominated world football between the late 1950s and the mid-1960s.

The Santos team appears among the ten greatest teams in history in the FourFourTwo ranking, mainly due to Pelé’s presence at the peak of his career.

“Only one [team] had the Athlete of the Century in attack during the peak of his career,” they praised.

Thus, the Santos team was marked by its offensive stance and its ability to win against opponents both inside and outside Brazil.

“Pelé’s Santos feared no opponent, dominating the Brazilian Championship during its golden era. Its motto was simply straightforward: ‘If the opponent scores a goal, we score three’.”

Thus, the publication also recalls historic matches of the team.

The magazine particularly highlights the world titles of 1962 and 1963 against Benfica and Milan, as well as the classics against Garrincha’s Botafogo, considered true “works of art”.
