Brazil, represented by Rear Admiral Alexandre Itiro Villela Assano, Commander of Maritime Operations and Protection of the Blue Amazon, stood out for its active participation and significant contributions.

During the event, Rear Admiral Assano presented Brazil’s approach to ocean governance, emphasizing the role of the Blue Amazon Management System (SisGAAz).
This system integrates a variety of equipment and technologies, including land radars, aircraft, vessels, and high-resolution cameras, to monitor and protect Brazilian Jurisdictional Waters.
A particular highlight was the use of artificial intelligence for remote monitoring and maritime surveillance, increasing efficiency in securing national waters.
Importance of International Cooperation and Financing the Blue Economy
The Brazilian official also emphasized the need for international cooperation in maritime security. He warned about the importance of adequate financing for initiatives related to the Blue Economy, a sector that promotes sustainable use of the oceans as an engine for economic growth.

In addition to radars and cameras, the system incorporates data from satellites and collaborative systems, such as the Maritime Monitoring System Supporting Oil Activities (SIMMAP) and the Long Range Identification and Tracking System (LRIT).
