Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas Program Offers Monthly Incentive to Attract and Retain Students in the Teaching Career
The Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas program is offering R$ 1,050 per month for students who meet the requirements of the announcement. The goal is to value those who wish to pursue a teaching career, encourage good academic performance, and reduce university dropout rates in degree courses.
Students with a score of 650 points or higher on the Enem and an active enrollment in degree courses through SISU, ProUni, or Fies can participate. Payment is made monthly, provided that academic requirements are met and the student commits to entering the public education system within five years after graduation.
Who Can Receive R$ 1,050 per Month
The benefit is exclusively for degree students who meet three main criteria:
-
GWM chooses Aracruz and puts Espírito Santo on the automotive map: a complete factory in the Americas, with stamping, welding, painting, and assembly, aiming for 200,000 vehicles per year and up to 10,000 jobs.
-
Labor shortages are prompting Portugal, Spain, Germany, and Canada to open up opportunities for foreigners in 2026, with salaries ranging from 920 euros in Portugal to 50,700 euros per year in Germany.
-
The government is considering a temporary subsidy for cooking gas following the spike in oil prices due to the war in Iran and warns about the impact of 20% of imports on the prices paid by families.
-
The lack of truck drivers in the country is already halting shipments and threatening deadlines: 88% of transport companies are unable to hire, with an average of eight trucks idle, and the port complex of Itajaí is now feeling the impact.
- Minimum score of 650 points on the Enem
- Active enrollment via SISU, ProUni, or Fies
- Compliance with program requirements every semester
Among the conditions to maintain the incentive are completing the minimum required credits, achieving satisfactory academic performance, and committing to teaching in the public system after graduation.
The amount is paid by the 5th business day of each month, and there is also the possibility of accessing an additional savings account linked to the student’s performance during the degree.
How to Register Your CPF on the List
Interested individuals must register on the Freire Platform, where it is possible to submit a resume and complete the pre-registration.
Approval is done by Capes by the 20th of each month, and Higher Education Institutions have until the 25th to register the approved scholarships.
To check if your name is on the list, it is necessary to consult the announcement on the Ministry of Education (MEC) website and confirm that all requirements have been met. Careful verification is necessary to avoid missing the registration deadline.
Why This Incentive is Important for Brazil
The country faces challenges in attracting new teachers. The average cut-off score on the Enem for degree programs is 572 points, well below careers such as Law (637) and Medicine (753).
Additionally, the dropout rate is as high as 73% in programs like Physics, with only 3% of 15-year-olds expressing interest in pursuing a teaching profession.
The Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas program aims to change this scenario by providing financial support and ensuring that new qualified professionals enter the public education system, especially in areas with a shortage of teachers.
And you, do you think this incentive of R$ 1,050 per month is enough to attract more young people to the teaching career? Or is the problem beyond financial support? Leave your opinion in the comments.
