Braspell Bioenergia Will Establish Itself in the Municipality of MG in Phases
In the first phase of installation, the municipality of MG will have a logistics center that will create several jobs, aiming to facilitate rail shipments of eucalyptus logs for the production of wood chips at a factory in the Port of Itaguaí (RJ). Also, in the first phase of the logistics center, the estimated processing capacity is 250,000 tons per year.
In the second phase, the city will have a pellet factory with an estimated processing capacity of 600,000 tons per year with potential to reach up to 1.8 million tons.
Margarida Salomão (PT), mayor of the municipality, classified Braspell Bioenergia’s investment in MG as a bearer of the future and highlighted the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), held in Glasgow last month, and the commitments made by the country to combat climate change.
Juiz de Fora (MG) Is Rich in Wood and Plantations
Luiz Guilherme Batalha, CEO of Braspell Bioenergia, spoke about the choice of the municipality of MG for the investment in the center and the pellet factory that promise to boost job generation. According to the CEO, one of the main reasons for the choice is the abundant supply of wood.
There are several plantations and the fact that there is no competition from soybeans, for example, as in other regions of Brazil where agriculture competes too much with forests, making forest formation with value unviable, makes the municipality special. Thus, this characteristic of value, the relief, the climate, and the logistics were essential for the decision.
According to the City Hall, with the installation of Braspell Bioenergia’s logistics center and pellet factory, Juiz de Fora (MG) takes another step toward its mission to transform the city into a National Hub of Clean Energy. For Ignacio Delgado, secretary of Sustainable and Inclusive Development, Innovation and Competitiveness, the arrival of the company in the municipality goes beyond the important implications it will generate in terms of job creation, income, and increased municipal revenue.
