Grupo Gera, with the objective of expanding the energy subscription service in Brazil, will invest R$ 100 million in solar plants in the states of SP, RJ, MT, PE and PA. The investment can reduce the value of electricity bills by around 25%.

Grupo Gera, which generates and sells renewable energy in Brazil, is preparing to invest BRL 100 million to build solar power plants in five states of the country, among which RJ, SP and MT stand out.

The renewable energy group will begin construction of facilities in the second half of the year in the states of SP, RJ, MT, PE and PA. This expansion in renewable energy aims to expand the electricity subscription service in Brazil.

The first of the solar plants was built at the beginning of the year, in the city of Iguatama, in the state of Minas Gerais. Subscribing to the service, which is mainly aimed at consumers who spend more than R$300 per month on their electricity bill, offers a reduction in the bill amount of up to 25%, depending on the region, according to the Renewable Energy Group. The new solar plants in SP, RJ, MT and other states must include residences, local industries and businesses.

The Director of Grupo Gera, Ramon Oliveira, explains: “With this expansion to the states of SP, RJ, MT, we strengthen this solution focused on taking an option of savings without needing an investment of its own to consumers. Expansion into renewable energy was already a request from several customers, as the model does not pose any risk to consumers and even helps to reduce the cost of energy.”

Investments in solar plants in Brazil grow

In that year of 2021, the ABSOLUTE estimates that the sum of all new investments in solar plants is 22,6 billion. The estimate includes private investments in Distributed Generation and also in Centralized Generation.

The entity states that the expected growth is 4,9 GW of installed power in Brazil, representing 68% of the current capacity of 7,5 GW. The data also show that Distributed Generation should increase around 90%, going from 4,4 GW to 8,3 GW of installed capacity.
